Watching that video posted on another link earlier the guy shows his massage seats on his iX1. Is this an option on the current X1 with active seat lumbar option? Or is it an iX1 option only?

Anyone know…and is it any good?!

I have it on mine, it came as part of the comfort pack. I have only used it once coming from London back to Manchester but it does ease the tension in the small of your back. You can also alter the force of the massage.

Thanks Tunners, it’s no longer listed in Comfort pack but you can now select active seats as a £250 option, I wonder if that has it? 🤷🏼

Yes it does- I ordered that option and can confirm it has the massage function included

The content of the comfort pack in the uk is listed below, I’ve highlighted the active / massage seats.
Active Seat, Driver
Electric Front Seats + Driver Memory

BMW sure is milking as much as it can with seating options.

I'm paying extra for sport seats as part of the US$2300 M Sport package, which is also required since I want the Alcantara covered seats.

On top of that, I'm also paying US$450 for the Active Seats.

They should as at £250 for lumbar and massage in UK it’s a “no brainer”. However as it’s not really advertised how many people will know? My BMW agent who is very well versed at her job just sent me the blurb from the BMW site which doesn’t mention the word massage and said “no that option doesn’t include massage”. Therein lies the problem!

Further update, the BMW dealer says that you will only get massage seats with Comfort seats included not just the £250 active lumbar option on its own? Hmm…

Has anyone got just active driver seat option without the Comfort package to deny said statement?

They are not saying you cannot order the active driver but oddly they are saying that if you order it on it’s own (outside the comfort pack) that it is just lumbar.

my BMW salesman also told me that Active Seats was just lumbar. however, I showed him pictures and videos online showing otherwise. He still insists that massage is not an included function for US/Canada X1. Guess I'll see when my X1 shows up here next month.

My understanding from the description is that it's not "massaging", but some subtle movements to reduce fatigue.

Just the US not getting it maybe? Active Seat has been available for Canada since last fall sometime, for an extra $500.

I was definitely not impressed with the product knowledge of our BMW sales guy. Couldn’t answer some of my equipment questions at all and didn’t seem to want to bother to find out.

Yeah my dealer in Canada said Active Seat included the massage function - though they didn't have the option on the lot to show me. My X1 just entered production today so fingers crossed I'll be finding out for sure in a couple of months.

I bought the £250 active driver seat option, but I didn't get the comfort pack, and my seat definitely has variable lumber adjustment and the massage function. However, I also bought the Sensatec seat material option, so I don't know whether or not that is a factor too.
