X1 M35i Production Start Date

Hi All,

Just excited to share that I was informed by my sales rep that my build entered the production queue today! He mentioned that it could be as early as a Sept.

Any one have any ideas or insight on how long this process takes? I know based on some skimming through other threads, there seems to be some delayed updating on the tracker (i.e. marked "in transit" while it's already at the dealer).

Thanks in advance all!

My car flipped to production begins. My sales rep told me I would have the car in September.

If my X1 is anything to go by, production is fast once assembly starts, about a week before it’s ready to be transported. Then it’s all just a matter of waiting to get on a ship, which is the most random part right now. I was quoted December for mine when I ordered in September, I didn’t receive it till the middle of January. Just information for you guys. The shipping is really the wild card.

Yeah, i'm trying not to get my hopes up and just trying to keep myself off minded, but it's been a while since I've owned a car that is going to be fun to drive.

Thanks for always chiming in with helpful insight, appreciate it!

I placed my order a few weeks ago and it loved to scheduled for production quick and my sales guy told me the same, likely September.

But then it dropped back to order accepted status and just a few days ago went back to scheduled for production.

Production is scheduled for last week of august so depending how fast things move I am hopeful for early October give it take a few weeks.

Did anyone else’s M35 order go backwards today (from scheduled for production to order received)? Wondering if they were having any pre-production hang ups. Little information about my order: order placed 7/10, allocation confirmed 7/14, “scheduled for production” status 7/27, reverted to “order received” status today (8/4).

Ok, thanks. Mine is pretty much fully loaded with frozen paint. Maybe something on my option set is backordered…

It’s most likely your paint choice, my sales rep let me know that if I picked an individual color it would delay the build. Again not confirmed this is what i was told.

Finally found an image of what the new M Sport Seats will look like in Alcantara with contrast stitching. Very glad I chose this option.

Very nice, my alcantara seats (without the hole in the headrest but the same shape) are fantastic 👌🏼

Thank you both, that makes sense. Will just have be patient… guess a few weeks isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Just a bummer to see it go in the wrong direction

My X1 did the same thing and then jumped ahead a few steps not too long after. I think their tracking process is decent for general estimates, but it has its hiccups. All you can really do is just watch the tracker to give you an idea of where it MIGHT be at lol.

more photos of interior.

Anyone else noticing that theres a "lumbar button" on this set up, but I was told and confirmed multiple times that the M Sport Seats for the m35i could not be optioned with lumbar support.

This is making me a little annoyed.

I’m a sucker for a red interior so im going that route but the black with alcantara looks amazing!

Where did you find these pics?

I just entered in the option code in a google search, and then did a slight deep dive.

I like the red too, but I think it clashes with the color I chose (storm bay)

The only way to get lumbar support in the US for the 28i is to get it as part of the Active Seats option which includes the massaging feature, could be the same on the 35i as well. Who did you confirm with? If it was the dealer, maybe check to see if the order sheet they go off of lists Active Seats.

this is confirmed, the configurator online will also not allow you to option M Sport seats with the lumbar option.

Unsure why this is, my guess is that it's due to National Safety regulations or something.

This could be correct, though I have seen sport seats with lumbar support on other models. That said, active seats cannot be ordered with the M Sport Seats on the M35. So I am not sure on the photos above how this is possible unless it is from a non US market and that is a limitation here. Though I don't think that makes much sense.
