That’s is odd but it’s possible that they just do that for a new year production. Unless they actually have identified something that needs fixing. Better to have it triple checked for sure.

I think the QC 24 thing is a visual bug on the garage page. Once I click into the “Track Status” just says Quality Check.

Mine has been in QC status since Friday. Genius like said it should move past that status quickly.

There are a few people in here who I think are about 2 weeks ahead of me in production (I’m week 35 production) who I think got past this step a bit ago if I recall correctly.

I also read a post of someone who was in and out of QC in one day. Not sure what dictates the differences in timing.

Hey all, been following along a couple days now. I put in an order for the m35i on 8/25 and glad to say today it went into “production begins” phase

Looks like on all of your timelines I’m still about a month out at least to have this baby in my hands

Congrats on placing your order! That seems generally in line. Not sure that anyone’s officially received theirs, so we don’t have perfect confirmation. Similarly, the beginning of the production run may not be a perfect gauge, but your point is still valid.

One thing to note is that things like custom colors can cause variability. Anecdotally, mine took a month and a half just to move into production begins, likely because I ordered the frozen grey paint option. It’s continued to sit in that status all week, likely for the same reason (and I fully expect other such delays in my production process due to this).

Welcome to the M35 group. Excited to hear about your experience!

Thanks! I figured some people who preordered earlier may have extended wait times to time the release - fingers crossed that was the case, sorry for those who have been waiting patiently for so long!

My build includes pretty much everything you can add besides the frozen paint, I went with a classic Sapphire black. I don’t know enough about upkeeping frozen paint so I figured I’d save myself a couple potential headaches and some $$$.

Happy to be on this forum and excited to see and learn from all you BMW vets.

Are you guys still in quality check or have you progressed? I’ve been in quality check for a week.

Based on what others have said, about this usually being a quick step, sounds possibly they’re holding them at this step to meet a specific delivery/ release date? For the MY24 or maybe specifically the M35’s.

My M35i sat in Quality Check for 4 weeks. Just released to Awaiting Carrier Assignment today. Finally got movement. I just think they don't want the M35i to be delivered before October.

Thanks you both. I assume that’s correct. Hopefully mine progresses early next week too.

I know they originally said landing at dealers in October so it does seem in line with that timeline that they would hold them up along the way. And assuming shipping will take 4-6 weeks to the dealer it would make sense.

Mine flipped to awaiting carrier assignment today as well, but the last call with the genius told me that it was already in this status, so I imagine it will be at port by EOW.

Our timelines sync up almost to the day for the most part but things seemed to get held up in the QC step. Finally after about a h week and a half I jump ahead to awaiting carrier this morning. East coast here, maybe that has something to do with it.

Update,

BMW Garage dropped my Vin# yesterday, order was placed on July 26th, so 47 days. Good to know my order is finally starting. Says Production begins 2024. My build was scheduled for week 40, which is the first of October, I'm not sure if that means start or finish of assembly? Just a waiting game.

It denotes the build start week.

Mine was Week 33 build.

Bmw Genius line confirmed mine has been dispatched but on the online tracker still showing awaiting carrier assignment since last night. I was told to check back in a few days where it would hopefully be at port, assigned a ship and estimated dates would be available.

Week 35 build 2024 X1 M35 coming to the East coast.

We are all buying this car (M35i) without driving it (mine is listed 'at the port' right now, destination is west coast USA). In fact there is no single online review on it from someone who actually drove the car.

So I am curious what are your expectations about how it drives and handles vs the 28i or a car like X3. Would love to hear your thoughts!

mine is a week 39 build, but when I called Genius they told me the build should be completed around 9/22. I will keep you updated as you SHOULD be only a week behind me

I am very curious about this too, and cheers to yall for taking the leap of faith with me. I search youtube at least 2x a day looking for the Joe Achilles drive video he said he'd upload "soon".
