e90 sport suspension
Anyone know if there is a way to determine if an e90 has sport suspension installed? Canadian sport package should come with sport suspension but I had my VIN checked by a third party (for a different reason) and it shows sport steering wheel, sport seats, 18" wheels with performance tires but .... no mention of sport suspension. Have not been terribly impressed with the car's handling so now I'm curious!
Thanks. |

Shouldn't cars with sport suspension ride about an inch or so lower than ones without?? May be that's for the coupe/vert only. I'm not sure.

If the car does not have the proper suspension, perhaps the pervious owner swapped it out.

Ahhh... that is true. But you also don't get the 18" ellipsoid wheels either; only 17" alloy wheels.

I wonder why they don't offer sports suspension on the xi's? It's not like any number of us actually go off-roading in the thing.
And I wouldn't actually care if there were some good aftermarket setups for the xi, but that KW v3 is dang pricey. |

That's probably because the Xi is marketed as a winter driving car and they cannot afford to see their cars stuck in snow because of the low ground clearance associated with sport suspension. In fact Xi cars ride slightly higher than non-sport non-Xi cars.

Tell me about it. With my downsizing to 17" winters, my car looks like the BMW version of the Big Foot Monster Truck.

Looks like I am getting suspension for sure if it's that bad. How much is the KW V3?
Has anyone heard anything on BMW Performance adding stuff for the xi, I keep hoping.... |

Just checked. This is a change for 2008. I was looking at the 2006 & 2007 models which only had the 17" wheels (for the xi model line).
Also just noticed that for the 335 the 3 spoke leather sport steering wheel is standard which is why it's not listed in the Sports Package. Nice.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this about the "ultimate driving experience" but I was expecting the sport suspension to be stiff and take corners like a train on rails. As is, I find the car front end diving down and "spongy". Also a slight "back and forth" rocking when coming to a complete stop. My first bmw so didn't know what to expect which is why the question. If my dental fillings don't rattle and hurt when speeding over rumble strips, then the suspension is too darn soft . Thx. |

You need something like active suspension to counter that..
