"So I'm driving the other day but the thing was piggishly slow... turns out I had a gallon and a half of water in the trunk! Took that out and now it's a rocket." LOL EDIT: The V8 gets a 2.4% weight increase and a 3.6% power increase. No harm done.

Glad to see it finally got IRS. Hopefully for next generation, Ford focuses on major weight reduction. I would like to see it evolve into more of a light weight track tool (even less muscle car). As it is, the 2015 GT is a fantastic bang for the buck.

This car is a sledgehammer of performance. It will never be a scalpel, nor should it be. If you want a lightweight track tool you should buy a Lotus, S2000, or Miata and let the muscle cars do their muscle thing. 5,000th POST!!!!!

Lets not forget the rumors originally had it shrinking dramatically in size and weight. Next gen this will be true (hopefully). |

Yeah I wasn't directing that blast at you - It was a preemptive strike against those who I know will trot in shortly.

The old stick axle version was faster around most tracks, adding an IRS isn't going to hurt it.

They are headed in the right direction, the closing speed on coupes like the M3 et al is moving at a good pace already (although I'm pretty sure the M4 will dust the new one but we will see just what that comparison looks like soon enough). Remember what a steaming pile of crap the 3V was? Ford was on the same chassis (albeit updated) when the BOSS came out. Pretty crazy. Quote:
They will keep the weight light enough to meet their performance goals while still coming in under budget. That will always be how it works, it will not go severely light-weight (aside from special "trims") for the foreseeable future. I'm much more interested in the dynamics as opposed to the power output. It's a completely different car. It got a ~4% power increase but the performance gain will be much greater than that. |
