Pulled a Log on a 1/4 run

Haven't posted up a log in a long time but I figured I would try something different for a change. I'm running the E30 OTS map from Cobb right now and I pulled this log last night during my 13.2 1/4 run at Bandimere. DA was ~9300ft and the car felt really solid all night long. Just figured I would share, I haven't seen anything yet that's given me any cause for concern.

Those are some high IAT's! You hit 150 degrees by the end of the run. Too bad.

It was 90* ambient and I was having a hard time getting the VRSF 7" cooler to chill the F out.

I've been thinking about it just to bring the charge temps down pre and post intercooler. I've never been a huge fan of Meth as I think it brings too many risk factors in especially for a street build like mine, but at this point its starting to look like it's unavoidable.

Yup. Good for controlling IAT's in the heat. More consistency.

That's what I was running last night was E30 blend. Waiting for PTF to finish their hardware release so I can get my hands on that new fuel bucket upgrade and go 100% E85. Still gonna need meth for IAT's though. Grrr.

I'm assuming you are at some pretty high elevation also?

Elevation at Bandimere is 5860ft. DA was 9300ft @ 84*F ambient around 6PM and this run was done at about 4:30PM. It's likely the DA was even higher given the fact that the temps were about 5-7 degree's hotter around 4 when I ran but since they weren't reporting on the time slips last night like they usually do I have no idea.

Get an Aquamist setup, spray through one nozzle as opposed to 50 or whatever Shiv recommended back in the day (jet size is your call obviously) and spray solely for IAT purposes...you'll be fine. People kaboom things with meth when they strap on some cheap kit with push in fittings, then use meth as their octane with pump gas underneath.

And w E50 things will look better in-cylinder than the raw IAT will suggest. Ethanol does magic during the compression stroke.

Are you suggesting Pre or Post single nozzle Meth? (IE: Custom tap into the hot side of the intercooler or Pretapped plug for meth on the Charge Pipe)

This is purely anecdotal, to be clear. But I would imagine in an ideal scenario, you'd be spraying via one of the front mount end tanks. Hot side vs cold side is interesting to think through, I won't pretend to have first hand data there.

Back in the day I sprayed via a single AM jet tapped in the cold side end tank. Sold that kit (IDK why) and long story short, replaced it with an identical AM kit not that long ago. This time i'm spraying from a more "traditional" location right on the cold side charge pipe. Haven't tuned for it yet but once I get around to it, i'll be able to compare the temp deltas from last Summer (when I was spraying farther downstream).

The beauty of using meth as an IAT tool, rather than as your fuel, is that you don't have to be quite as obsessed with distribution between cylinders (which i'd be willing to be is pretty poor). Not to say it isn't important, but you aren't relying on it to sustain your boost and advance so if for whatever reason the system totally crashes, you won't be melting any expensive parts.

@135Pats
I would never run meth as an octane supplement. Too much that can go wrong with that. I think the best way to get proper atomization of the meth would be to port it in as far back on the cold side as possible. My thinking is putting the meth on the hot side would defeat the purpose of the intercooler and cause the meth to be wasted/collected in the intercooler rather than dispensed on the cold side with the charge air. That's my theory anyway. Lol

Yea that is not helping at all for your IAT.

In regards to your post about methanol and nozzle areas. You could spray one pre intercooler and post intercooler. Hell you could even spray pre turbo if you wanted but that typically comes at the cost of potential blade wear from any subsequent poor atomization.

If you spray a small nozzle say M2 or M4 that should not be an issue. If you are going Aquamist then use one of their smaller nozzles I think 1.0 is the standard and people run 2 nozzles with those sizes on this platform.
