Jb4 flashing check engine light 8 times.

Hello, so I have been experiencing a new thing lately. Anytime I get on the gas hard during an on ramp, my traction control will kick it and cut the power momentarily and if I keep pushing it, once I have finished accelerating , the check engine light flash 8 times. What does this mean? I looked at the sticky and It says 1 flash Iis over boost etc etc but it's 8 flashes. Also car is totally normal for the remainder of the drive, no shaking, no reduced power etc. When traction kicks in, it sounds like a loud pop.

I have 18000 miles, jb4, downpipes, bov, intake. Please help!

I'd recommend you hook up your laptop and take a data log of the problem occurring. That is the only real way to figure out what could be going on, and Terry will ask for a data log as well.

Disassembling the front rack and opening everything up again sounds so Iinconvenient.

To run a log (I don't know what disassembling a front rack is)? This is why people run a USB cable into their glove box. Also, if tinkering with your car periodically is inconvenient to you, you should probably stray away from modding your car in the first place.

Did you not install the JB4 with the USB cable the first time around? If you did, it is a very simple thing to hook up. If you did not, and you plan to stay modded and continue down the modding path, I strongly suggest you get the cable and hook it up to the JB4, then run it into the car.

As noted above, some run it into their glove box. But if you don't want to deal with that, you can run it up out of the hood, tuck it under the crease between the front fender/hood/a-pillar, and then run it into the car through the door jamb. I tuck it into the passenger side door compartment and it is easily accessed whenever I need it.

Yeah, I have the cable but never installed. I am not planning to mod any further. Just didn't realize i would ever need it. Thought it would just be pnp as I have heard. Not tryingto break any records, just trying to get more juice. I read the jb4 sticky, but it says nothing of 8 check engine flashes. I'm sure it stands for something.

It is a good idea to install the USB cable so that you can update the firmware when new advancements come out (like the relatively recent all cylinder logging ability) and check on codes that come up. You already have it, so you might as well install it.

It's pretty simple. Google how to install it and you'll find links to the N54 site that will show you how to do it.

Read the install directions RE: USB placement. It should be outside the DME box so you can run it in the window easily for logs. Sounds like a run lean safety. May need to enter the 335is specific settings.

Best best is to post a log on the n54tech support section for assistance.

If u wanted true "plug n play" should have gotten a cobb AP...

Regardless of the tune you are using...plug and play doesn't = set it and forget it.

N54tech has the settings. Set AFR values all to 0, and FutureUseD to 17. Then you'll normally use map 2.
