Is the airbag light as annoying in the 3 Series as it is in the A4?

The A4 passenger airbag warning light is incredibly annoying, especially at night when it lights up bright yellow. (I am often in my car alone.)
Is the 3 Series light, which I saw mounted on the console behind the rear view mirror, as annoying? Does it shine brightly at night if no one is in the passenger seat? |

I had two, 2 liter Cokes sitting in the seat last night, the light came on and off a few times. I caught it out of the corner of my eye. Not to annoying...

Do you mean the hazard light button? I have never seen the airbag light. Where and what is it?

No, I mean the light that indicates that the passenger airbag is disabled. If it's the same as in the A4, it illuminates in bright yellow when no passenger is in the car.
I'm not so concerned about it flashing if something is on the seat, but wondering how bright it is when it's constantly illuminated. 1stnewcar, it might be something installed only on US models. |

It probably is on UK spec but I've never disabled the airbag - hence why I've never seen it

Do you have a pic you can point me too where this light/lamp is?? |

just to make things even clearer: it doesn't turn on if there is no one or nothing in the passengar seat. just when it detects something on the seat but that thing doesn't weigh enough for the car to think it's a person.

My current Accord probably is typical of US cars. Start the car, if the passenger seat is completely empty then the "airbag off" light illuminates BRIEFLY and, thankfully, turns off after a few seconds. If I have something in the seat but weighs less than some specified weight (either 60 or 90 lbs. I think) then the stupid light stays on. When recently moving, I had my computer monitor on the front seat and had to look at the light for 3 hours driving down in the rain.

Its so the car automatically switches off the bag when someone to small or a baby seat is on the front seat, instead of relying on the driver to switch the bag off. The USA also gets some extra side impact load force switches

I have never noticed, therefore it's not annoying me. Because it is located in the ceiling of the car and is not bright, you have to be looking at it to see it.

It's not bright, but it does stay on. You really have to look directly at it to see it, although I do catch it out of the corner of my eye if it goes on or off.

You know, I have never noticed the airbag light come on when there is no one in the passenger seat (So I guess that would be a vote for it not being annoying)... Is it on the roof next to the moonroof controls?

So after 20 posts, which is it !?
Does it always stay on when there is no passenger, or only when the weight placed on the passenger seat is above a certain weight (i.e. 30 pounds) but also below a certain weight (i.e. 60) pounds? I'm inclined to believe that it's only on in the second situation, because if it were always on, there'd be more complaints on this board. |

I've been checking this out over the past few drives and my light never turns on (exept for a few seconds at startup).
I seem to recall seeing it on maybe once in the past few months I've owned this car. Maybe I had a few things sitting in the seat at the time.
