Calgary Fuel

What fuel (brand and octane) are you running in your Calgary car? The last month I've used only Husky E94 performance plus, prior to that I was running the 91-octane premium from Petro-Can. Noticeable improvement with the Husky gas *note - E94 Performance Plus is only available at select Husky stations in the city ..... I'm getting mine at Husky on Macleod Trail / 42nd Ave SW*

Does anyone run race fuel on regular basis (VP-Fuel)? If so, where are you buying it?

I have run Husky 94 for the last 3 years on my STi. I get shitty mileage. Chevron 94 they have in BC is so much better. I think I get 20% better mileage. I just filled my tank for the first time with the 335, so I haven't picked a fuel yet. I am thinking Shell 91 until I work out my bolt-ons. Then it will likely be 94 all the time.

Don't know where to buy VP fuel. I would like it for track days in the summer though.

There are several places in Calgary you can get VP fuel (Airport Mohawk is one). There's another performance place in SE Calgary that also sells it (just east of Blackfoot).

I think that the high octane ethanol based fuels do not make power as well as MTBE boosted fuel. I have no evidence other than what I feel in my car comparing the Shell to the Husky.

I may run the Husky 91 but I think the HUsky 94 will not get you anything.

I don't think their performance fuel gives the performance that we expect.

The Sunoco fuels are way better and they know how to make great gas. Too bad we can't get it.

What we really need to do is buy a barrell of Sunoco race fuel, leave it in the garage with a hand crank pump, and blend it in your tank after a fill and do that in the summer when you want to really push your car.

I plan on using the Husky 91 or the Shell 91.

The PetroCan fuel sucks from my experience, again I have no evidence why, just what I feel when driving.

Is that Aviation fuel or just race fuel.

I'd be careful with Av gas, that sh*t is nasty and may attack elastomers in your fuel lines

Nope - not Av gas. They sell a variety of VP fuel (blends) .... just be careful you buy UNLEADED (Google VP Fuels and familiarize yourself with what they sell first).

I checked and it looks like C10 is the only non-oxygenated that they have.

Everything else has high ethanol.

I stand corrected, I called VP and they recommed Motorsport 101 or 103.

Looks like I can get it in E-Town. Just gotta convince my GF that I need this for the car so I can get a 54 gallon pail

My STi is tuned to the bleeding edge of 91.

Around town, I can run 91 all the time. Only at 2K rpm in 6th when I hit full boost at WOT do I start to ping. ECU pulls back timing and I lose power.

When I run 94, I can WOT in any gear at any rpm. No power loss.

So you might not feel it, but there is a difference. running Husky 94, you also need to run the car richer as the 02 in the fuel throws the readings off about half a point. Not sure how the wideband in our cars handles that (does it have a wideband?).

I wouldn't mind getting some race fuel for a dyno day... haha.

You can call Joel at overdrive motorsport (specialized in karts) for the VP fuel.
