Techron Cleaner?
Hi everyone,
Has anyone had experience putting Techron or other fuel injection cleaners (royal purple, etc) in the engine? I used to use it on my old car with no problem, didn't know if these engines will be any different. Thanks! |

Yes, even BMW Motorrad sells it for their motorcycles. I use it on everything I drive. If you are lucky enough to have a Chevron gas station nearby they add it to their gas.

I don't personally understand why you need to use it (Techron) on a new car / Top Tier gasoline should have enough additives.
There were issues of carbon build-up on N54 engines and would Techron have prevented that problem? Mercedes in one of their Owners Manual's does state " Do not blend other specific fuel additives with fuel ... and may be harmful to the engine operation " Mercedes does say be certain to use quality fuel. |

I was just watching a Jay Leno's Garage video where he spoke with Bosch. Since port fuel injection sprays the fuel behind the intake valve it will clean where fuel puddles. However, since direct injection nozzle is in the combustion chamber the cleaner never hits the back of the valves, and fuel cleaner won't do anything in a combustion chamber. |
