Clutch install questions

Ive heard talk of the flywheel using an 8 bolt design on some cars but if I pull up realoem and look up how many flywheel bolts are used 2007-2010 they all say 6 bolts.

I assume this means the 335is/550 clutch can be used in an N54 setup no matter thr year?

It looks like the aluminum bell housing bolts are now steel, when looking at real oem it shows I need to buy 5 of those, is this correct?

Any other parts I need to order?
Downpipe to midpipe gaskets are still brand new so I should be good there.

I assume I'll need an alignment tool as that doesn't come with the 335is clutch kit.

So just the clutch kit, alignment tool and 5 of the steel bell housing bolts is all I'll need?

8 bolt is up to 1/2009

6 bolt is 2/2009 and after.

Yes the bell housing bolts went from aluminum to steel.

The reason for limited responses is because forums are typically the least busy on friday nights and saturday afternoons.

If I didn't answer some of your questions it's cause I wasn't 100% positive, free bump

The clutch doesn't matter in regards to the flywheel bolt pattern, only the flywheel.

I was going to take it apart and see. If it doesn't looked burnt and I can still see machine groves I'm going to keep original flywheel. Fwiw it has 36k miles on it.

I know that you installed your spec 2+ last year so I prob will have a few questions for you along the way.

Mine is a 2007 and I had the 8 bolt. You're right on materials. Not a bad idea to look at your pilot bearing. Replaced DMFW with Spec SMFW and 550i clutch. No issues except the 550i clutch is fixed hub, typically used with a DMFW. It is loud but works awesome. Feels like stock. Holds fine. Stage 2+ turbos going in soon and it'll really be tested.
