My build thread V2

So as many of you know my VFF900 powered e90 was totaled last summer. After contemplating a while I decided to pull the trigger on another one. Since my e90 was supposed to be a practical DD for my other car and stay a FBO, it didn’t quite work out that way. So knowing what I know now I went with something a little sportier.

I settled for this 2010 e92 M sport. The e90 was a straight up 4 door sleeper. No one believed me what she put down or how fast it was and always had to prove my point. Under the hood looked pretty basic and the sound was pretty quiet (until the open dump wastegate opened). Knowing my goals and what I could expect from the N54 I decided to go with some more show than the sleeper look. For power I settled on the Ventura Motorsports top mount. It was a better bang for the buck than FFTEC’s top mount. Payam has been great to deal with and he delivered what he promised on time. More on this later.

My goal for now is to get the car ready for the end of January for the Wanna Go Fast event at the Jumbolair airport in Ocala FL. So the mod list is going to be limited for now due to time constraints but I hope to have the car fully built how I want it by spring.

The build:
VM top mound using a 1.00 divided PTE6466 twin scroll
VRSF 7” intercooler
Ebay exhaust (yes laugh I’m waiting on VRSF to release their new exhaust)
Custom oil cooler
Aquamist HFS-4
JB4 (most likely go AEM in the future)
PTF twin disk
Build to come post January:
Coilovers
LSD
All bushings and arms replaced front and back
Solid engine mounts
Port injection (with custom intake mani)
AEM
Carbon hood
Brakes upgrade.

Heres some pictures of my V2 oil cooler set up. I’m using the stock 335IS oil/water cooler ducts. They fit my 16 row oil coolers perfect and mesh well with the bumper. I intended on running black braided hose but had fitment issues with the fittings so I resorted back to SS braided. The SS braided is very abrasive and the minimal clearance I have took particular attention to make sure no chaffing is present. I’m still using the Improved racing 180*F thermostat. I’ll let the pics do the talking.

Next is the turbo kit. Ventura Motorsports did a great job putting this one together. It has shown to spool quick and put down massive power. As far as I know I’m the only one on the east coast with one and probably will be the first to install it on their own. I plan on doing this the very first week of January when I get back from my parents from Xmas. I will be sure to document this pretty closely to help others in the future. The kit actually just arrived today. I couldn’t be happier with it.

I have only installed the wiring portion of my Aquamist HFS-4 but I plan on making a few minor changes to my 7 nozzle port injection. Stay tuned.

im thinking about getting the vrsf intercooler. idk if I should get the 5 or the 7 though. I just hate how there's a gap between the radiator and the intercooler with the 7 inch. whats your input on what one I should get? I would rather have the car look better than get a little better performance from the 5-7

Go for the 7". There is ways of raising it. I dont have any pictures but file down the plastic that the IC mounts to and trim the rad fan tabs a little. You can get another 1/4" out of it.
