Ae As Drl With Frm1
I have a pre-lci E90 with FRM1 and want my DRLs to be my angel eyes... is there any way i can do it without coding or upgrading to FRM2?

i looked into this too. seems option one is the daeos harness, option two is a frm 2 or 3 module and then coding the angel eyes to be drl. i guess option 3 could be some kind of homemade shit where they get power when the ignition is on.

Does anyone else have worse bulb-out errors than are typically described with installing the Daeos harness? I've got the Daeos harness on my 2006 (with FRM1).
I was expecting to get an error if I changed the headlight switch to parking lights, but I was getting constant bulb-out errors. If the main headlights were on I would get it every time I stopped the car and would go away as soon as I started driving. I confirmed the wiring multiple times and my guess is that the FRM1 (maybe just 2006's?) is way more aggressive at bulb checking than later units. According to the wiring diagrams in the Bentley manual it looks like the DME relay circuit changed significantly in 3/2007 so I don't know if that's the culprit. I ended up coding out the sidelight bulb checks to keep my sanity (no more "DOOONG" every time I stopped). A second minor issue is that I found that there is a shadow code "2ACB - DME digital motor electronics main relay, input signal" that started after install. The best I can track down is that the Daeos relay is slow to switch so the DME 12V that is fed through the main relay (that's what you tap into in the DME box) is getting powered by the headlights for an instant. I've got some diodes on order that I'm going to try to add to the Daeos harness to prevent this, I'll update if it does any good. This is not saying that the Daoes isn't a good solution and I'm pretty happy with it, but beware these few issues depending on your build date. |
