Requesting Feedback on ER Dual Oil Cooler

Hey folks,

I need to upgrade the oil cooling in my 335i for next year. I've been toying with the idea of making my own oil cooler kit but I've decided against it.

So I've been looking at ER's Competition Dual oil cooler:

Any feedback on this unit? Are there any issues you've seen with it?

I guess the first question I would need ask is what you are going to use the car for. Are you doing open road tracking days?

I've been tracking the car regularly for the past 4 seasons. The only way I could prevent the car from not going to limp mode is by running the heater on full. That's not very comfortable in the summer.

Next seasons I am finally going to attempt to be in the advanced group on track days. I am fast enough and experienced enough to do this. The car needs to hold it though, hence the need for oil cooler upgrade.

Okay so the Competition Cooler is definitely the way to go. The reason I asked is that I only recommend that to people that do a lot of track days (open road) Its a must in these cars as you are well aware with the heater being on

In reality no car should be lapped without an upgraded cooler. These cars just run too hot when pushed hard for a extended period of time.

I would also recommend getting the aluminum shrouds.

The ER kit is really great so I'm not trying to say anything bad but if you want to save some money you can get the same for way less. Just put together a custom one. Mishimoto sells inline stats with stainless oil hoses, as well as nice oil coolers for our cars. Would be less than a grand. That's what I would do anyway but the only track time I do is auto cross and drag strip, not really as demanding as a road course
