Valentine1 - Is it worth upgrading to v1.85?

Valentine1 - Is it worth upgrading to v1.85 from V1.8.A-integrated--POP2 with Euro Mode?

Cost is just $99.

My current version:

"V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.8.A-integrated--POP2 with Euro Mode

Comment: This is our latest and best performer on both radar and laser, but more recent software improvements described below add significantly to capability.

Upgrade Recommendation: You already have our best performer on radar and laser, enhanced by crystal-controlled frequency tuning. More recent V1s, however, have additional features. If you drive abroad, you will appreciate our Improved Euro Mode which increases protection on photo radar as it is used in countries outside the U.S. Extended Serial Protocol (ESP) enables two-way communication with SAVVY and V1connection. You'll also get Traffic Monitor Filter to block false alarms caused by SpeedInfo (www.speedinfo.com), a traffic-flow monitoring system that sends frequent K-band radar bursts into the traffic stream, and Junk-K Fighter to eliminate false alarms caused by lane-change warning systems in some newer cars. If you drive in an area with SpeedInfo, this upgrade will pay off immediately."

I have been using the V1 in CA as well as multiple cross country runs for a number of years. I do mostly highway driving and the CHP use Ka and lidar exclusively in socal. Therefore, I have adjusted the setting to detect Ka band only which got rid of the majority if not all, "false alarms" including the pesky K-band bursts.

I'm curious as well. I think mine is 10 years old, but I've been happy with its performance. I've been considering the OBD2 adapter though, which lets you mute it below certain speeds... although I tune it out when I'm driving slow and am very aware of it when I'm not.

Hmm, I may need to check this out....been getting a lot of falses from lane departure systems and the traffic flow sensors, so driving around here is pretty much one continuous k band blast.

I have decided to upgrade since I need ESP to run YaV1.

Here are some it's great features.

Enhanced programming options
-Band segmentation across all bands
-Audio settings for specific threats (no longer just beeping sounds), auto-mute capability
-Visual settings for specific threats (color code threats)
-Threat analysis threats are ranked in order of priority and the YaV1 color-coded system
-Define In The Box frequency ranges for high-priority alerts, display filters, and auto-mute parameters
-SAVVY emulator
Filter and lockout threats based on customizable drift frequency ranges
-Speed display (units of measurement MPH or KPH), and compass bearing when GPS is enabled
-Profile settings allows users to switch to saved radar detector profile settings (ie switch between a setting for City driving, and a setting for highway driving on-the-fly)
-Euro-Mode option available
-Logging alerts allows users to view their encounters in a text log as well as a map log

There is StealthAssist also but YaV1 kills it.

The Junk-K fighter alone looks like it'd be worth it... Audis and Volvos with their blindspot sensors are the bane of my V1's existence right now...

I wonder if the junk-k fighter also would ignore my cell phone. My Samsung Galaxy S4 sets off the V1 when it's on my lap and I put my visor down, as the proximity sensor on my phone emits something that bounces into the V1.

Mine already has ESP, but not the junk k fighter. It would be $55 I think to upgrade mine.

I'm going to do it for the Junk k fighter. The lane change warning falses are getting pretty bad as it becomes a more common feature on cars.

I was next to a kia the other day and could see the blind spot warning light in their mirror as it was setting off my V1.

My S4 occasionally will set off the laser on my V1 as well. It doesn't usually se off k band though.

You're right - it's the laser that gets set off.
