Crap..., another Bump and Run!!!

Well, yesterday one of my wife's coworkers came into her office and informed her that her car was just hit by a Gray 4dr Chev truck and they got out and looked at her call and then drove off. No note, the coworker couldn't see tag number of the truck, and the buildings CCTV system camera's simply sucks!

Thank you for letting me share my disappointment in the human race today and people wonder why BMW owners are sometimes pissed off jerks!

It's been raining for 5 days so try not commenting to much about the dirty car - although it really doesn't matter now does it!!!

Either way, get a copy of that CCTV tape for insurance reasons to prove she didn't just back into something.

At least the cameras work! At my old job they had a camera almost every ten feet. Yet when a worker's car got hit they had no footage. Why you ask? Because none of the cameras actually worked

Why didn't the coworker get the truck's license plate number (considering the time it took for the driver to stop his car, get out, and check the damage)? Was she witnessing from way afar, perhaps even from a her office or something?

My theory is that the coworker was still too far away. Also if they didn't care about the damage, it might be a 5 second glance before they ran away, and of course, that's to make sure their car is drivable (e.g. the bumper won't drag the road). Living in an area full of Asian FOB dumbasses and having a hit-and-run that cost me my job once (somebody hit the company car) and having a car I meticulously cared for hit twice (and my car's particular shade of touch-up paint was hard to find), I've seen shit like this plenty of times... So it even got to the point where I leave a note as a witness whenever I see bullshit like this.

Interestingly enough, in my neck of the woods its the white dudes in their 20s driving SUVs, trucks, and beat up Fords/GMs that just throw their cars around parking lots and hit your car. I can't even recall the number of scrapes, dents, and scratches I've got since because of that.

Bummer OP.

I just noticed a gentle crease at the passenger rear of my bumper 2 days ago. Had to have happened at work, but no way to know. Drives me insane, at least only I will notice it. People suck.

The coworker viewed the incident from the front of the vehicle which didn't have a license plate and because the driver got out of the truck he figured he was going to leave a note so he went on into the building and let her know.

Not going through insurance as well, I can get the bumper replace and painted for less than my deductible. It's good to have friends in the Auto Body business.

You need to invest in a 2 channel dash camera system

This looks like the rear of the car... Dash cam won't be much use unless you got one facing backwards too.

Perhaps they bought deterrent cameras with a hollow casing and an external red led blinking light.... I have seen this setup in parking lots of small establishments. Only a few of the several cameras are real.

The cameras worked they were just 480 res, they would have to be 3-5 megapixel and perfectly focused to get a plate. The security guys will be looking out for the truck and the guy after they wake up from the naps. I certainly could have used the $$$ for something else!

Having been recently hit in the exact same manner i feel your pain. The worst part is that my company's security cameras are probably off the same assembly line as your wife's employer because they were utterly useless.

But hey stuff happens right? It gave me the excuse to finally order the M3 style bumper without having to justify the extra expense.
