Bank and Brokerage

Judging by the cars you're tooling around in, your finances are likely in order. Right now I bank (both business and personal) through Scotia and I'm not that thrilled with them. On the person side, I have to $15/m for the privilege of having an account with them. That may be because my balance isn't often over $1k because I move money to a high interest savings account (on top of the usual debt commitments and bills), but it is still terribly annoying. On the business side, I'll just say I wanted to shoot a couple people at Scotia and Chasepaymentech for about a month. On top of that, their brokerage services are expensive.

Any recommendations?

As for a brokerage, I'm a reasonably savvy investor. I just hate having to pay $29 (which really means $58 when it comes time to sell) per transaction. There's really not much choice. TradeFreedom seems really reasonable and Interactive Brokers more so but they have a $5k account minimum.

Any ideas there?

Thanks,

Kyle

(p.s if any of you calgarians are interested in going to the game tomorrow, I have tickets in sec 210 r16 that someone backed out on)

Just asking for opinions on financial services, is all. A little left field, I know.

if u hate bank fees, u should try President's Choice Financial...

For banking, I use CIBC. Reasonable in their fees, and my balance is always damn near zero (my job pays me in cash, and lazyness stops me from depositing my cash). I've accidentaly overdrawn my account and the fee wasn't too crazy. For short-term savings, I use an ING Direct account and actually make a reasonable amount off interest, I don't think I've ever been charged any sort of fee either...

I will advise you to switch your banking with RBC, they have a Signature No Limit Banking accounts that don't care about your balance on the account with the same amount of fees you are paying now, unlimited debits, and you use other banks and even in the US for a couple times a month free of charge, RBC also has a high interest savings account with no min bal requirements and the best of all, its FREE!!

I am active trader on the market as well, and I pay only $6.95/trade because i am an active trader like yourself thru RBC direct investing. Go to RBC and you will be happy.

Sorry, I might sound baised, because I work for RBC, but honestly, all my other friends all bank with RBC and they are all happy clients.

How often do you trade? Anything over 30 trades a quarter, no way
you should be paying $29 per.
