Maybe a little bit more I drove it more aggressively. I didn't ask the dealer, but I'm sure he will answer "With our new system you don't need to wait anymore, bla bla bla".
Maybe I'm wrong but I think that we cannot disable entirely this functionality, it is enabled every time that we turn on the car. And I don't think that the car checks the oil temperature or
the speed of the turbine to be sure that it is safe to turn off.
(All the swiss m235i are equipped with this functionality, I don't know if it is the case in the other countries)
yes, you can disable it. but yes, the car checks temps and other things in connection with auto SS. don't fret.

I don't like the auto start/stop function in my X1. It's a PITA.
One of the 1st things I do after starting the car is to hit the auto start/stop button (see below) to disable that function for the duration of my trip.
When I get my new 2er ragtop later this month, I'm going to ask the dealership to code it such that the default is "disable auto start/stop".

Just drive it in Sport mode and it's turned off automatically. Car is much more fun that way anyway

Yup, I already do that for most of my in-town driving, but when I get on the freeway and settle in at 130Kmph (generally the normal speed on our 100Kmph limit highways), I generally slip it into "D".

no coding required...auto S/S settings are saved when you shut down (at least for USDM cars).

That's not the case with my 2013 X1.
I hope this has been changed for current model BMWs..

I've got a 228 m sport. My start/stop preference is saved so I don't have to push it every time I start the car.

Same as above with mfourn. I have an early 2014, M235, and my preference has been shut off and it has stayed that way. It comes back on IF I would be in Eco mode...but as long as it its in comfort or sport...no problem.

ASS disable memory has been in place since MY2014 I believe. You should not need to code in order to get the ASS Off to stick when you turn on the car.

The only exception is that if you go into Eco Mode, it will enable ASS.

Modern turbos have been designed with different cooling designs than turbos from the 90's/00's when turbo timers were more relevant.

Improved cooling designs means it is not nearly as important to let the turbo cool off for an extended period of time as it was with older turbos. If you have been driving the car hard, then yes cooling down is always suggested but as mentioned auto-stop start is permanently disabled with 1 button press and the car will sort out when to automatically enable/disable ASS.

Yep what he said! I remember all the Associates saying that no matter what it always goes back to default after you turn the car off and go back into to drive it again but that's not the case, only defaults back when you select to drive in Eco-Pro Mode as the car thinks you want to drive economically which makes sense hence why it switches it back on to give you the best MPG possible. But it's good to know that it saves it until you decide to go Eco Pro.

Stop start is weird. I wouldnt worry about shutting engine off too quickly. I doubt there is any scenario that could cause turbo problems short of a few hot laps on the track.

I dont know how u managed it, but my Stop/Start is always ON, eco / comfort / sport / sport + doesnt change a thing. And i dont like it, everytime i turn the car on, i have to press the damn button to be sure not to stop after a sporty ride /:.

I still prefer to wait 30s after a sporty ride than to turn off the engine straight on.

Ridiculous? Annoying maybe. Next time youre in traffic have a look at all the cars around you just idling/wasting fuel and polluting the air. Might change your mind.
