Heat problem change in temps with different fuel

Hey

Is it possible to have a drop in temperature when using higher octane fuel with V2 Procede?

I have been running V2 on 91 AKI fuel for 2 weeks, no problems . Normal operating temps where between 250-260 depending on driving.

Since i been filling up with 98 AKI the normal operating temps have not gone above 250 once even under hard driving and stabilize at 244 now when they used to stabilize at just over 250.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have the standard BMW oil cooler installed.

You're kidding right? In theory octane change can have a small effect on temps, in theory. If you seriously think your measuring a 7 degree difference well.

As usual it must be you I just asking a question and stating what i observed the last couple of days. And i am measuring a 7 degree difference, when driving hard! If you would like video proof or something

Im in no way saying it is just the octane, it is possible something could be going wrong when im running lower octane and same torque values, just trying to get some opinions.

I guess when you run the tank dry, fill up again on the 91 and see what happens... ?

Possibly some sort of additive ?

are you sure with the increased octane your not driving wide open throttle more often?

While I do not believe you could measure it and what was witnessed was pure coincidence; there could be slight merit to this.

Higher octane fuels have a lower BTU content. If you took it easy on the throttle you could possibly generate less energy and less heat. But IMO, it would probably be immeasurable.

dont forget detonation guys. higher octane will reduce detonation making the engine more efficient & lower temps

Maybe it is this but i have tested the car for problems about ten times running pump fuel have not found anything. I always have the knock sensor on when im on the dyno, and if knocking does occur shouldnt i throw a knocking code?

But ill make sure next week when i fill up on 91 again maybe it is causing problems because the car gets hotter much quicker, i do a 3rd and 4th gear run twice and its sitting on 260 today i drove the whole day hard and it only hit 250

Higher octane fuel actually does lower your temps due to the fact that detonation is reduced and you get a more efficient burn. In terms of temps it's not as effective as running a higher compression ratio but you do tend to get a better burn and at the same AFR in comparison to lower octane fuel you'd run more rich causing lower temps as well.
