Remember that boring, slow Honda CR-Z that roughly 6 people bought?

Honda is finally giving the people what they want. |

Yes, please put that 2.0l direct injected turbo from the CTR into the CRZ. This would be a fun car to drive.
Didn't one of Honda's top guys get fired recently? Good news I guess. |

I'm pretty sure the GTI makes 210hp (220hp with option power pack). Mine made 200hp and was still tricky when the power rolled on. My current CC is tuned to about 270hp but I honestly haven't even tried to goose it. I just like the power for merging onto the highway.

OT: MK7 GTI does make 210 (220 PP)...the 260 number like likely quoting the torque. Those are crank numbers, not sure if people are dynoing higher or not.
The CRZ would definitely be a hoot - Glad to see Honda moving in a better direction with the Type R and this CRZ now. Personally ot a fan of FWD but doesn't mean other people will not enjoy them! Thanks for sharing. |

I didn't see any mention of FWD, maybe I missed it in the article?
I was hoping they would stick their SH-AWD in there. It would be awesome if they would make it a RWD hot hatch, but it's Honda. Have they even had a RWD car since they killed the S2000?

I wouldn't get your hopes up for either (RWD or AWD) Seems like this one will be another integration of FWD based on the old model as well as their track record with power trains ( as ShocknAwe pointed out). I'd hope for an AWD just because there aren't enough AWD hatches out there, however these seems to be their competitor to Fords several FWD hatches (ST/Fiesta/etc). At least that's where I see it going.

And having driven the Mk6 and Mk7, they addressed torque steer very well on the newer car. |

I'm not sure if it would pathetic, ironic or what, but I can imagine my son getting this as his first car just like the CRX-si was my first car. It's only taken Honda 30 years to replace it.

The CRX Si was many a youngster dream car back in the day. You're lucky to have gotten that at the time. Honda coming around is too little and too late right now though I feel.

Big void being left by BMW in the small light sports car. Honda is coming back around JUST at the right time.

No, as others have said there are a host of comparable hot hatches out there. Honda's a decade or 2 late and maybe a dollar short. BMW has never wanted to compete with Honda, that's what Mini is for.

You're acting like it's a full bullpen. It doesn't take a decade or 2 to build a good car in this climate. There are plenty of brain-trust engineers out there with something to prove, and if Honda is willing to put up the money for them to do it, all the better. Who EVER said BMW wanted to compete with Honda?
