level 10 trans upgrade possible issue?
So after 97k miles and lots of abuse, i decided to upgrade my 6at trans. i bought a transmission already built up by level 10 (torque converter and valve body), and upon having my installer (a bmw master tech) get down to business with it, he discovered something strange. My car is a feb 08 build, and the trans is an 11/07 build (alpina flash capable), and the trans bolts up to the engine just fine, but there is a gap between the converter and the flex plate. he took this picture and sent it to me. anybody installed one of these and can make any sense of it? Right now, we are thinking it may be that the wrong torque converter was put in the trans or something....so until i can get a call into level 10 tomorrow, car is just sitting on the lift.
he says "The oem flex plate and converter touch each other. If I tighten it up, the torque converter will come out of the pump and leak." Im clueless on transmissions, so just to be safe rather than sorry, well wait and call level 10 tomorrow I guess.

Its about an inch or maybe inch and a half. way too much. its also a 3 bolt torque converter. thinking maybe level 10 sent the wrong converter, but im waiting until they open to contact them.

From my expereince in the LSx world, there needs to be a small gap, this prevents the converter snout from pushing too far into the pump in the trans and burning up the bushings or causing serious interference issues.

they accidentally put the wrong converter in the trans. they sent me the correct one and all has been ok for the past 2k miles.

So far, so good lol. once the car is warmed up (i never beat on it when cold) trans shifts great and goes right into all gears. about 4-5k on the trans.
