Check coolant temp using mileage reset button?

Found this while I was searching for something else. Is this true? Anyone tried this before?

-----------------------------------
check your coolant temp

go into your car and start it, HOLD the milage reset button for like 30 seconds (until a menu pops up)

this is the "secret menu" of the 335, now hold the button for three seconds until you move to menu 2, quickly (before it chooses menu 2 if you let go for too long) click over and over till you get to # 19, it will ask you for a code, the code is the digits of your vin added together, you will see these digits in menu one, once the code is entered the rest of the menu will be unlocked, go to menu 7 and your coolant temps will be displayed there.
