no OIL cooler for me

No OIL cooler for me.
I called BMW NA today, first thing I was asked is to provide my vin# . After that girl told me that I don't have sport package and they only will retrofit cars with sport package, she even read me the company directive letter telling them what to tell customer ,it simply said to tell customer that car without sport package will not get oil cooler retrofitted period. That sucks =(

This is really new to us. Known only for... ehm... lemme think... a year or so?

U could ask.

BTW - sorry about that. But maybe someone getting an OC replacement from VIP or other supplier could pass U his own.

Ya that is kinda like demanding the sport seats for your car because the sport package car has them - if you ordered your car today same options you would still not have an oil cooler, so why would bmw give you one?

Because no where does BMW state that the sport package option includes an oil cooler, either now or in Sept, 2006 when I received mine. IMO, I think this complete bullshit that BMW does not provide the oil cooler, SP or not. They reason that the additional oil cooling is necessary for the 130-->155 mph increase which we all know is BS.

IMO, this is BMW's attempt to save money. Why? BMW did NOT include it on early prod 335i auto with SP. Only after contacting BMWNA directly, NOT the dealer were you able to get a waiver for the oil cooler. Time after time, thru varous tuners, ie. Dinan, alpina, etc that engine cooling is the most significant issue for this engine's longevity and reliability. Time will tell if BMW in its attempt to save a few dollars may have lost future generations of potential buyers, me included.

I vented, I feel better now

They did retrofit some even on cars w/o ZSP. It may have been an error though, and now they are paying better attn as to whether or not you have Sport Package.

If you have a manual without ZSP, they will install the oil cooler too.

Too bad, I don't have ZSP or a manual tranny.

Although, my temps never went past 260 ever. And I don't track my car, so that can be another reason as well.

I called BMW Canada and 'Sorry sir, your car is performing as it should" is what I got. No oil cooler retrofit BUT she was nice enough to tell me that I could have 1 installed for about $1500.
Auto with sport pack!

They actually had me take my car into a dealer to have it looked at. The tech gave it a hard run and concluded that it was not required. I argued the point and was told that it was not required. I mean, if it wasn't required, why does BMW include it in the new cars and why does Dinan require an oil cooler for warranty? A load of CRAP, thank you BMW Canada

I bought my new 07' 335I without sports package auto tranny 3 weeks ago.

The dealer installed the oil cooler on my car. I don't have to call BMW NA at all. The only thing i did, i told them you have to install the oil cooler for me if not i won't buy it!

I got discount(It's an only 07' left in the lot) + the oil cooler + tint windows = a bad a$$ deal.

My understanding is that the tire size really only matters with the xi's as an xi w/ sports package but not 18" wheels will not have an oil cooler. An xi w/ sports package and 18" wheels will come with an oil cooler from the factory.

in EU no sport package = 17" wheels, SP = 18" wheels. Maybe thats the reason she asked u about your wheel size, to determine if U do or not have ZSP.
