I installed my UR HFC downpipes and UR exhaust this week. I have Procede 1.47 right now, waiting to install my V2 soon. After installing these pipes, I noticed quite a bit more power and response, although I haven't done a dyno, there is definitely a noticable difference IMO. Not to mention the spool is much faster and you can actually hear the turbos now. I really like this set up, definitely pleased with my purchase. As much of a pain as it was to install, it was well worth it IMO.

getting installed today. plan on grabbing some dynos in a few weeks once i get some time. cai and helix is next on the list.

i am pleased with the stock exhaust and can't justify spending that kind of scratch on a catback system for minimal if any gains over stock besides saving some weight. i think its more hype/marketing, just my 2cents there.. plus the golf tee does what i need for sound.

just picked up the car and wow..

the first thing i asked about was fitment. tech stated it was dead on and the cats were tight but NOT touching. i know this has been an issue with some installs with the catted dps. he did mention flex fittings do help out for alignment, however if you take your time and tweak around the dps prior to tightning down, nothing will touch and the quality was top notch regarding fitment.

a few things i noticed on the drive home (20+ miles):

1. slight change in engine tone, quite a bit deeper which i noticed right away on startup. tone carries with increase in throttle as well
2. throttle response; i can't believe the difference between stock. this is the most noticeable improvement and i can say its day and night.
3. turbo spool; seems instant, again big difference between stock.
4. hp/tq; mild increase from the butt dyno. i wasn't expecting a drastic change but there is a slight difference. more then anything, the huge difference in the instant throttle response/turbo spool makes you think there is an increase in power..

overall, i am totally stoked and wonder why i didn't put these in earlier

i thought it was reasonable and had no complaints. i am glad i didn't do these myself after seeing the dps on the lift. doesn't look like a lot of room and i couldn't imagine trying to work in that area with the car on ramps/jacks. but then again, i am no mechanic by any means lol..

I hear what you are saying about the stock exhaust, same feelings I have. But with this said, I just have to wonder if the performance of the catted DP's suffers without having a free flowing exhaust to go with it?!?!

that's the only concern I have but not sure if it is justified

I guess only doing a dyno to figure out your gains will tell much. I would like to reduce the weight but there's always a double edged sword in modding

keep us posted as soon as you dyno. btw, did you take it to BMW mechanic or other shop?

forgot to ask...did the mechanic see any issue with O2 sensors after installation? are they tight in the spot on the DP's or are they fine where they are? didn't know if with DP's the placement of sensors changes or remains the same.....those pics your mechanic took will be of great reference.

Good to hear everything went smoothly with your install, and that you are pleased with the performance

The o2 sensor positions are similar to stock. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

did you delete the secondary cats with your setup of catted DPs and exhaust? if so, are these cut by shop or unbolt? since I have no idea what it all looks like down there....

I would hope that secondary can unbolt and bolt back on if you wanted later down the road, I just hate having to cut any parts if I may need then again.

Since our cars are new, we do not need to have a smog pipe test on our cars right? That means if you get a catless DP, you don't need to change it for emissions. Is that right?

Joe,

First coilovers and now downpipes. You are costing me a lot of money. Seriously, I would like a drive in your car to feel the difference. Maybe this weekend.

The secondary cats on the stock exhaust are no longer there. I replaced the whole exhaust, now the only cats are the one's on the downpipes.
