can I use this battery?
I called up the local BMW dealer today and asked if they had a battery for my car in stock and how much. The guy on the phone asked me what car, so I told them 2007 335i coupe, and he tells yes, $240.
I end up going there and ask for the battery, and the lady at the parts desk ends up saying it's $350. So I tell her I spoke to some guy at he quoted me $240 but I didn't get a name, so she goes in the computer to try to find the battery that guy was looking at and doesn't find it. So after a walk to my car to figure out the ah, cca, and part # of my current battery (I still have the original from 2007), she finds one that matches the ah and cca, but different part #. It's 61-21-8-381-762, and it's only $145! So can I use this battery? And I know I have to register it, but I don't have to code it since it's the same ah/cca right? |

As long as it is the same type (Lead Acid or AGM) as what was originally in there and you aren't changing the AH/CCA, you can just swap and register the battery. If changing type or capacity, you will need to code.
