Community Service and Leadership Ideas...
you guys have helped me out a lot so far, so I decided to come here after speaking with my guidance counselor. So far, I am Student govt. President for the 2nd year, president of the key club, captain of the football team, and I try and volunteer at Lawrence Hospital as much as possible. I need some unique ideas, no matter how difficult to make me stand out from the herd. After seeing a young girl in Lawrence hospital who had cancer, ive always wanted to start a foundation, but figured there are already so many. Maybe I could find another cause to donate money to, but thats all in the future. You guys have any reccomendations?

Try something humbling.
Do volunteer work in a third world country for 2-12 weeks: http://www.crossculturalsolutions.or...la/default.asp You can literally go anywhere in the world. You may have to pay $, but really good experience. Someone I know volunteered with Mother Theresa in India (not through this program, though). Lots of non-profit volunteer abroad programs available to choose from; try Google. Great experience, and depending on where you go, very humbling. |

The peace corps is a good start, after an overseas tour you get a bonus, free college, and a job after college. Its very competative to get in though.

Sounds like you have a good resume. Where do you plan on going to college?
