Are these goosed????

Having sold my Scooby to buy my E91 I've commandeered my wife's wee e87 as my new runaround and want to get to the bottom of the abs/dtc problem. To be honest I should have done it long ago but got lazy and just started to switch the traction control off and the car drives fine. It started playing when turning right and just got worse. So today I got under the car as best I could and took some pictures of the reluctor rings and to be honest I don't think they look to bad 😏 the car had just had new discs and pads on the rear before the fault started.

Any way here's the pictures

Now the other side

What do you guys think? Could it just be a sensor?

They don't look too bad mate. Looks like just surface rust rather than corroded and broken teeth.

I would guess maybe the sensor?

How is the access to give them a clean up, like with a wire brush or something?

You can try a little trick I did when I had the same issue. I got my codes read and it was intermittent rear left sensor error code. Talking to the mech he said it could be the whole wheel bearing (unlikely) but more likely to be either the sensor or the (name escapes me) metal wheel the sensor reads being slightly warped. If you don't mind taking a couple of bits apart take the wheel off and unscrew the sensor (there is videos for this and a tutorial somewhere)... have a look at the end of the sensor magnet... if it is unscratched its probably the sensor. I got an aftermarket new one for £20 which is sat in my drawer. Mine was scratched, so looks like the 'wheel' was making contact with the sensor causing the issue. I inserted a thin washer and screwed the sensor back in to test this (contact) theory... eg move the sensor marginally further away from the 'wheel' to stop it making contact. This stopped the error light from returning (all for a 5p washer *).

* Before anyone asks I have had this repaired, but was a good way of isolating what was at fault.

Seen worse

pritty obvious where the issue is on these. But as has been said they don't look that bad as has been suggestd if there is any issues with the sensor being contaminated it'll show once you have a good look and the "good tip for a fix"is a good get out of jail remedy
