Finally--My Custom Tune is Here!
I've been searching, asking, complaining and sometimes crying about getting a tune to go along with my mods so I could take full advantage of what I have. Some said that it wouldn't matter and others said that it needed to be done.
Now, and Finally, the moment was here to do the tune. I met up with Shiv at the same place that I've done all of my Dynos mainly to keep the parameters the same (same dyno, same car). I previously just installed the Active Autowerke Intercooler and showed good gains with that IC. The thread is here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110106 So, run #38 was the best run that I've done with my car. Could I do any better? I know that some have shown better numbers on other dynos, but I honestly don't care about any other dynos. I care about this one. Even though most dynojets are similar with their readings, I very much think that every single dynamometer reads differently. Some read higher than others and others read a bit lower. I personaly don't care about peak numbers so I could go brag to my friends. I only care about the gains over the other runs that I've done in the past. So, this is what I have: -UR HFC DPs (I can't believe the acronyms around here. It's just as bad as the government I work for.) -Magnaflow mufflers, X pipe instead of resonator, 2nd cats deleted -AA IC -Procede V2 (Custom for 91 Octane) Since the last and best dyno that I did was with the AA IC, I have chosen that curve to show the gains of the Custom V2. Again, All runs were done on 91 Octane, and I can still adjust my torque values higher if I put anything different in. I'm extremely happy! Now, I'm all set for the track.

Nice Numbers! Did you use a upgrade air filter, or any intake?

Wow impressive! Maybe Shiv could do another tour of the U.S. to custom tune everyone elses.

Wow.. very impressive gains, especially at the high end! So the only difference is the custom tune?

WOW that is like + ~70whp at redline!!!
Is this with stock intake? If so I think you could be 380+whp with a cone filter intake, that would be right in line with Shiv's 390whp considering that he has catless donwpipes and you have high flow cats... How does it drive? Must pull HARD>>>

Based on the evidence, Ali doesn't know what he is talking about.
Edit: if (as noted later on in the thread) instead of comparing V2 and "V2 custom", what is compared is V1 and "V2 custom" the results do not tell much of anything... Last edited by Lane; 02-04-2008 at 07:46 AM.. |

Agreed. The story we have heard is that the stock airbox makes it really tough to start breaking 350+ at the wheels (not that it can't be done but that it is losing power at that point) so he could really see some gains by adding a cone filter intake if he is running the stock airbox

Are you a Federal employee?
Man, I'm happy to see those numbers with HFC's. I thought they might be a let down compared to going catless. Congrats!

I'm happy with the HFC numbers also, but Shiv did say that he's seen much better gains going catless. If I were to do it all over again, I'd probably go catless DPs and HFCs in the midpipes.
