E93 335i Exhaust Mod Options Other Than a Full System

Hey there, I'm looking into modifying the exhaust on my 335i, but I don't want to spend the money on an entire exhaust system. I can't seem to find any information on mufflers, and I was wondering if anyones had any experience using aftermarket mufflers. Any advice would be appreciated!

(Also I've heard about doing a muffler delete and that sounds good, but I'm worried about passing inspection, and I can't seem to find any info on that either. Does this affect emissions much or is the change in noise level ridiculously drastic?)

Thanks again

are the stock mufflers restrictive? I know probably HP per dollar isn't worth the gains but are there any real gains for a catback?

Do anything past the DP's on these would be more about sound than performance.

I have a catted downpipe and the harness unplugged for the active exhaust - sounds great. Still reasonably quiet at idle, but when you get in the throttle its plenty loud.

Catless DP's sound great. I just got VRSF installed, everything else in exhaust is stock. Not too loud, no drone, but when you get on it, sounds beautiful. With the top down it's awesome.

All of the above, but substitute simply unplugging the harness for the muffler flap rather than using an actual "golf tee".
