TPM Issue

My car is an M355i, late 2014, with run flats (original and never changed).

Over a month ago I started getting a "TPM Malfunction" warning. It's not a warning about a specific tire. All tires are filled to spec.

The reset option generally doesn't work. It has reset successfully twice but only for a few days.

I hate to burn the calories and time to take it in for service if there is something simple to try out myself. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Factory sensors/wheels?

If so you may just need to find a time to take it in. Could be a sensor that has just gone bad and is messing up the system, especially if you've reset it to no avail.

They're factory wheels/tires/sensors--about 8 months old. I did change out the caps to some other BMW OEM caps but that didn't seem to immediately correlate with the problem.

I don't really know how TPM works so maybe I'll spend some time learning how it works and that will give me a clue.

Me too! Would appreciate a follow up if you figure it out. Thanks in advance.

Did you have to take it in? How long did it take?

A few days after my post the TPM started working again. No real reason that I can tell but it's been working since.

I dislike unexplained resolutions almost as much as unexplained problems.
