Need pros advice. Seems like I just can't get the hp out of my 335i that I want. Should I trade in for a m3 that's gonna cost me 20k more than my car is worth or could I do an engine swap? I'm looking for 10 second type speed and I also want that rumble from a v8. For $20k what's the best choice for brute power also considered srt8 challenger. Any thoughts? Or could I get that type of speed with stage 3s or a giant single. What's my options?

I'd buy a C6 vette and buy one of those top mount roots supercharger kits.

The actual number don't really matter but the times matter. I just haven't seen 335i puttin up those numbers on the daily

I'm confused...Do you want to drive an N54? Or is your primary goal a "10 second car". If it's the latter, this isn't the chassis you want.

If you'd like to do it in an N54, your best bet is a single turbo conversion for top end power. Get the wallet and driver mod out, you'll need to have the suspension setup perfectly.

There are easily two dozen of us who have the power to be deep into the 10s...Power isn't the issue at all.

Exactly this.

Suspension is everything on this platform for good 1/4 times.

These vehicles have pretty large fueling and traction hurdles to overcome to see the numbers you want.

I personally decided a good goal for these cars is getting into the 11's at 120mph.
Anything past that and you may want to look at different vehicle.

Fwiw at our local dragstrip 11.5's or lower and you need a roll cage.

I don't think an M3 is going to fit your bill if you want a 1/4 mile drag car, nor do I think a z06 or a corvette is either.

If you want to 1/4 mile, get a 2011+ Mustang 5.0, it seats 4 as well.

Well it's not the engine that I'm worried about that's just what I have to work with. I know I can drag it for 10 seconds but I want that power always like 2011 Porsche turbo s type status without spending 80+k on a Porsche.

Im not the most versed when it comes to cars and racing but I have learned over the years you cant have your cake and eat it too when it comes to power.

You can almost choose a power level/elapsed time and pretty much you can come up with a fixed dollar figure that it will take to do that. Even if someone can break 10's for lets say $20k, theyre going to end up paying for it down the road through break downs/ having to upgrade supporting parts.

Cheap, fast, reliable.
Pick two, you cant have all 3 at once.

You are looking for a unicorn, then.

When you say you want the power always, are you referencing throttle response and spool?

If you want BIG power with immediate response, you need big cubes. This motor spools really well for its' displacement, but it's not going to respond down low like a blown LS or something similar.

Can't even begin to estimate the amount i've dumped into the car solely as a result of turning up le boost. S*** happens.

In my opinion, OP is way too picky. Wants this but not that, and when we offer solutions, he says "don't want that" or "i can't have that".

I'm not going to repeat what others have said, but don't you think if there was a cheap fast car that can run 10s and reliable we would all own one by now????

You're asking for a unicorn my friend. There are tons of options, but you're going to have to sacrifice something, whether it be money, time, or looks.

If you want a fast cheap car, a built civic will do the job just fine....

Single turbos are fast for our platform. Lots of guys putting out 600-700hp. But this is $$.

That is exactly what I was going to say. If you don't wan to pay to have a NICE 10 second car than get a Civic and start reducing the weight and get yourself a big turbo and you will have your 10 second car for 20k.

But, It is still a Civic. To each their own but I would rather have a 12 second 1/4 mile car that is fun to drive rather than spend my money on a fast POS.
