Aux port hum/distortion
I finally got my Monster iPod adaptor for the car. I noticed that when I'm playing the iPod through the Aux port (I'm using the line out jack on the Monster adaptor) that there is a noticeable distortion and sometimes hum when the car is on. It seems to go away when the car is off. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? To me it sounds like something isn't grounded correctly. I want to change the cable going from the Monster cable to the Aux port to see if that helps but the fact that it goes away when the car is off points to the fact that it isn't the cable.

I think it has something to do with the power adaptor causing noise to be injected into the audio cable. When I unplug the power with the engine running the distortion goes away. I'll have to see if I can get a better cable that has more shielding to see if that helps.

You may need a ground loop isolator. I was having the same issue with my XM radio and the addition of the ground loop isolator fixed the problem. You may also just have a bad connector because I have not seen anyone mention this problem with the iPod.
