Intercooler piping question

After installing a new FMIC a few weeks ago i've been wondering why the j-pipe and part of the charge pipe is 2.5 inches. If the inlet/outlet of the intercooler and the throttle body is 3 inches; why is piping diameter reduced here? Sorry if this is a dumb question or if it has already been answered.

hmm i see what you mean. Would full 3 inch piping make any difference on a FBO car?

There are much bigger and obvious restrictions elsewhere. You would not notice a difference.

You'd need a custom pipe to go from the intercooler up to the throttle body.

I'd put your money elsewhere before doing that. Bigger gains to be had before the turbo like the turbo inlets.

+1

If you want to upgrade the plumbing start with upgrading the inlets.
