Final fantasy 7 remake!

I'm really excited for this. I know this game...people either love it or hate it cause of the following. But this is my favorite game of all time. I can't wait to see it on PS4!!

I feel like FF8 was a better game. Never got into FF7 but maybe with the remake

I never really got into FF8. To me FF1, FF6 (3 in the US), and 7 where the top FF games.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on both FF1 for the NES and Phantasy Star for the SMS when I was a kid. These where the definitive console RPGs and pretty much all console RPGs are now modeled after them.

Ah, the memories, FF7 was one of the best JRPGs at the time, and still holds its ground when comparing to the JRPGs of today with its intriguing story, rich character development, hidden items, mini games etc...I'm definitely looking forward to its PS4 release. I hope they would release FF8 too, it was one of my favorites at the time, right behind FF7

Never understood the hype for FF7. I thought several other PS1 JRPGs were better like Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, FF8, Dragon Warrior VII (I'm a hardcore DQ/DW fan), and a few other SquareSoft's stuff. I'm not knocking it for a bad game because it was actually good...it just doesn't live up to the legendary status it has somehow made for itself. Among the FF games I've played (1-10, 13), it's somewhere in the middle behind 6, 4, and 7.

I'm hoping the remake would do it for me.

Chrono Trigger was hands down one of the best JRPGs ever made. FF6 and Chrono Trigger are my top two titles followed by Phantasy Star I (the game that drew me into RPGs). I also LOVED the Gold Box AD&D games for the PC/Amiga but some of you guys might be too young (or not nerdy enough) to remember them.

Squaresoft's recent games have all been crap, so I'm all for them remaking 7, 8, and even 9 which I also quite liked. Maybe they will get off their high horse and return to their roots a little now.

Don't forget Secret of Mana on SNES if you liked chronotrigger, very similar with a more real time fighting style.

I agree, with the exception of maybe FFXIV MMO which was pretty good for the genre. I am worried about the change in combat system which could be good as the gameplay trailer for FFXV seem okay.

The sad part of traditional JRPGs is that not many people in the current generation appreciate menu based RPG and want more action based instant gratification. With games like the FFXIII sequels, I honestly just watched YouTube play throughs for the story and felt no need to actually play it.

I still find the writing for the Square games are interesting but I am not really into the whole action based gameplay. From a FF fan for the past 24 years, I am honestly more excited about the new FF Dissidia game over any of their other title.

I also agree that Chrono Trigger is probably the best JRPG to date. I was sad when Square decided to shut down the Chrono Trigger Resurrection project. Hopefully one day they will remake it, all though I don't think it is very likely it would be made to what I expect in the current demographic and market of video games.
