Ok, I get it now.

I was running errands by the dealership today and decided to stop by and see what cpo suvs were on the lot. I glanced over where the usual "3s" are and saw nothing but 335 sedans. I decided to hop in to the dealership to take a piss and saw my old CA. She was busy but handed me the keyfob and I was out the door. At first, for some odd reason, it felt heavier than the 328, maybe the feeling was wider tires (more road feedback for sure). I stepped on the gas and the thing roared. I have driven the new M5 and it seamed like almost the identical scary demeanor. I couldn't believe the torque. I carved a tight corner and and nailed the apex perfect and the power just took over, and there was no understeer. I then stopped on the side of the freeway because I didn't want to open up from a stand start on the road. I never been 0-80 faster.

So wtf do I do now? I am 6 months in to 3 year lease with 5300 miles on an 07 e90 328 sports package (when I went to make a purchase, there were no 335s and they didn't see new ones for 2 months subsequently, now they got 12 of them 8/e90 4/e92). I don't even know where to begin in terms of trading in a lease, how does all this work? What would you do?

You're in a bad place. Find out what your payoff is to buy the car. You can usually buy out a lease at any point during the lease period. If it is reasonable, buy the car, then sell it on your own and use the money to buy the car you want. You'll get soaked, big time, if you try to turn a lease in early. Or you can try to get another qualified buyer to assume your lease. But good luck w/ that.

Live through your lease and get an M3 when you are done. You are going to get soaked no matter how you get out of it if you try and get out of it now. You can see what the dealer will do in trade, but I bet its a 6k to 8k loss.

Scenario #1
1. have your CA call and get the dealer payoff
2. have them appraise your 328
3. when you get the sickening news try to avoid punching your CA and used car mgr.
4. storm out of the dealership, write a bad review about your experience and loose hours of sleep

Scenario #2
1. put tons of cash down on the new 335 lease (to cover the neg. equity on your trade value) to get to your original 328 payment and maybe eventually you will forget about how much money you just blew

Scenario #3
1. forget about it, save your money, enjoy your 328 and look forward to the 335 or M3 in 2.5 years

why dont you post it on swapalease? im pretty sure bmw doesnt hold you liable once the title has ben transfered. i used swapalease to try to get rid of my fx35 and i had tons of buyers but i backed down at the last moment because i found out i would still be on the contract as a cosigner. you can get out of the lease with little or no penalty at all! good luck man!!

I always have trouble understanding people that find amazing acceleration a must for a car to be used legally on the streets. Yes it's fun, but I thank god that the world isn't full of people with cars that go 0-100 in 5 seconds.

If you need this feeling, buy a motorcycle - I'll feel safer, even if you won't.

And yes, I agree, the 0 to 100 in 5 seconds is a great feeling for the driver.

As others have said--you try and get out now through the dealership, you are going to get hosed.

But--if you can SELL the car for the payoff amount (not probable) or close to it, that would be your best bet.

Good luck.

Try leaseswap, it worked for my buddy. If you go into the dealership you'll get very hosed.

Then again, I traded a 14mo old purchased car to get into my A4 lease. I didn't care about the lost money though.

I went to a dealership to try a 328 (comparable to my 2.0T) and after trying them back to back I had to have the 335. It happens all the time.

+1
The dealer will bend you over. Either sell it outright, or find someone to take it over on swap-a-lease... assuming you put 0 down, you could make it a wash.

Or just see the lease out. 2.5 years will fly by, save your money, then get the 335i.

Like others said, live through your lease and save up for an M3. By the time your lease is up, the new M3 will be in its third year of its development cycle, the PERFECT time to by one (since any kinks should have been worked out by then).

Thanks everyone for helping me come to my senses. I guess I was just a victim of the turbos. I am just as content with the 328 sport. I'll get some rims to make up for the inadequacies of the acceleration.

*sigh*

Actually, that feeling is going to gnaw at you. Every time you see a 335 go by, you will remember that feeling of being ''shot out of a slingshot'' and you'll have to try to fight it off. Good luck with that! lol

I had the same problem. The dealer gave me the keys to a 335 to test a year and a half into my 325i lease. I ended up giving the 325i back and ordering a 335xi. I told him he is not allowed to let me drive the M3 until the lease on my 335 is up.

The OP will probally have better luck dealing with seeing 335's on the road than dealing with losing a huge wad of cash. When I bought my 330, there was no 335. Of course I wanted the 335 when it came out, but not that bad. Now after having my car for over two and a half years, I am in a much better position to do a trade up, but now I may be thinking of a 5er next...maybe, just for the extra room...maybe.
