Tackling this misfire. I'm not a noob lol.. Please give me some input

Yes I Posted on n54tech... lolll

The other day driving with some e85 in the tank map7 and my methanol kit barely spraying I did a WOT throttle pull. Well a couple of them lol.

I am in 3rd and get a misfire and the car sounds like a truck. It was happening at the track recently also. But I restart the car and it usually goes away.

This time it did NOT go away upon restarting the car...

I was getting misfires on 2 and 5.. sometimes 6.. The car was running really really bad.

I looked at the plugs and checked the gaps which are gapped at .022 (the one step colder NGK's) picture attached.

I replaced all new coils today and now I'm getting a cylinder 6 misfire only. and the car isn't running as bad. I'm guessing because only one cylinder is misfiring now.

I moved the coil packs around and the misfire did not follow...

What else could be my problem thats causing this misfire?

I also washed the engine bay but the car started and ran fine after that for a good 40 minutes. and I used a leaf blower to blow all the water out.

The plugs were dry. Not wet. Could it still be an injector? The only code I am getting is 29D2 Misfirings Cylinder 6.

Can I switch the injectors around? Put cylinder 1 in cylinder 6? To confirm it is the injector?

I've read on the forum, and spoken to other e90 members in person who've recommended switching injectors (and coding) across cylinders to test misfire.

I myself never tried this method as i have also read that the little rubber on injectors goes bad upon removal... Conflicting info huh...

When i had cyl 5 issues i just changed that whole injector for a new one after trying all the other less expensive options

Negative, at least not without properly coding the injector to the cylinder you install it in.

OP, when was your last walnut blast?

I just had a walnut blast done a couple 1000 miles ago. I took the intake manifold off and they are still clean.

It's a constant misfire. It doesn't go away. Ughbbb

Sounds injector related.

So since I have the old index number I have to upgrade all the injectors ? (

Is this covered under any type of recall?

I replaced 1 injector only and coded it to my car and it runs like a top... I would start with plugs though. I've had a few NGK's go bad that looked perfectly fine.

There is a place that has the injectors for cheap, but I forgot the name. It's way cheaper than ECS and they are the same brand as oem

Rockauto.com -- I've heard of people going with injectors from there. Do a search on them
