USB Upgrade question
Hi all, I have got an E91, 2011. It has the Professional HU fitted with a working Bluetooth system, AUX input and the wiring in place for a multi-CD player in the boot.
I know you can get the USB fitted as an option when the car is bought, but mine didn't. I've been trying to see if it can be retrofitted. So far though, I've seen conflicting threads. Some mention I need a MULF/MULF2 unit, i've seen a file showing connections to another ECU and a long harness to the back of the car, some threads say it just needs a harness to the HU. I do know that my HU will need to be recoded. So my question is, what do I actually need and who can recode my HU to add this input? |

take the radio out and see if theres a USB port on the back (its not a normal USB port, its round with 4 pins). If there is you just need the port, a cable and some coding.
Earlier cars used the MULF2 etc, but newer stuff had everything built into the headunit. If yours doesnt have the USB port, you'll need to swap out the headunit for one with USB and Bluetooth. |

My 2006 car had bluetooth from the factory but no USB and had a MULF1.
It was broken and i've swapped it out for a MULF2, did a write up on it if you have a search. I've not wired up the USB yet though, need to get a port for the console |
