Any Waze users on here?
I really like Waze since I started using it a few weeks ago, been great at alerting me of speed traps .. Wish I had been using it before I got my two speeding tickets last year.. Oh well better late than never. Who's using it? And what's your experience been like so far? It's also very accurate with traffic flow information

I don't have a radar detector so I use Waze when I can. It does a pretty good job at letting you know where cops are, red light cameras, objects on the road, etc. I try my best to contribute as well.
Even with traffic activated on my iDrive .. Waze does a much better job at determining quicker routes.

I use Waze on every drive. I used my Airplay device to mirror the screen onto my iDrive, so I have Waze right there where I want it.
My one complaint, and this goes with most GPS software, is even though it knows traffic patterns and current conditions, it still likes to pick routes that are slower. Every day it tells me a slower way to work. Every day, after skipping 5 of its route changes, it finally routes me the way I wake...and my ETA always goes down by 4 minutes. |

I've used Waze for the last 2+ years every single day for my commute and any other highway travel. I don't use a radar detector and frequently travel "handcuff speeds" when conditions allow.
My one wish for Waze would be a user configurable route redirection so that it doesn't try to re-route me unless the alternate way is faster than X minutes. Frequently it will tell me to turn and if I ignore it, my ETA only goes up by 1 minute. I would prefer to keep the route I'm driving unless another route is 5 or 10 minutes faster. I've never had the experience of Nitrousbird, ignoring the suggested route and having the ETA go down. I don't have iDrive myself, but that would be ideal. |

I have been using it for a few years. It's pretty great with the real time information and hazard/cop notifications.
Somewhat frustrated with the re-routes on the local roads by home as it doesn't seem like it is saving you time. Feels like I am lost. Totally impressed in the highway reroute and have grown to blindly trust it. I've been caught in some big jams when I first ignored it. Drive into NYC frequently. Totally worth it even though you take a hit on data... |

I use it whenever I commute to Manhattan, which is every other week. It has definitely shown me a breadth of routes I would never have known. It's usually pretty accurate but, as others have said, I have followed it onto local roads and watched the "traffic" I was in just cruise right by me as I'm crawling. This happened to me last Friday and I wanted to smash my phone for it.

Very good and accurate for cops on the highway and objects too. Since the user base has gotten bigger it's like having more eyes on the road telling you what's ahead of you. You also get points for reporting things like cars pulled over cops and the how often you use the app. Pretty cool

I use it along with my escort system every time I'm on a road trip.

I use it all the time, together with my V1, it has saved my bacon a few times.
Nitrousbird I'm really interested in the airplay to IDrive solution. Please share the details on how you accomplished this! Thanks!

I use Waze on any trip where traffic could be an issue...it has saved my ass major headaches, NUMEROUS times. I used to ignore it's route preferences, before i realized how good it was, and after getting stuck in a major jam that it was clearly trying to avoid for me, but i chose to ignore it. Never again...
Waze knows all...

Started using Waze last week. I decided to try it out while heading to cars and coffee last Sunday. I received three cop alerts, the first one the cop was sitting on the top of hill waiting to catch unsuspecting speeders. The next two alerts no cops were present, but I'm sure it's a known speed trap.
I will use Waze going forward as a cheap alternative to a radar. Last edited by SpacegrayMe90; 07-17-2015 at 02:23 PM.. |

I used to use it all the time until I realized it had burned in certain parts of my phone's screen. I still use it now (with a newer phone), but much more sparingly.

It is a must app in VA since radar detectors are illegal. I can't even tell you how many times it's saved me from getting tickets. (Although, I just got one on 95N, but I think the cop just parked). And it's free!

I like to use it a lot. Here in Miami rush hour traffic especially around the airport area is hell. Waze has taken me through some interesting streets i never knew existed in the recent past.

I think a lot of the traffic features are now incorporated into Google maps since Google purchased Waze a few years ago. The only advantage I see in Waze over Google maps is the cops, red light cameras and other things people tag.
I occasionally use Waze but I find Google maps to be just as good for routing around traffic. And Waze has yet to update its interface for the higher resolution screens on the Iphone 6 and 6+. It looks very dated compared to the slick high resolution of google maps.

I did it for about ~$300 including my rearview camera. Works pretty well; it's my audio streaming solution as well. |

I only use it on long trips since around town I'm only doing a few miles at a time. Because of it I haven't moved my detector over to the M3 although both would be a better combination.
