Overheating Issue 2E81 & 2E82

2008 e92 335i 77k miles. Will drive car for 20 minutes with no issues (in slow/fast traffic). At random times the temp shoots up drastically (I have water temp on gas gauge with JB4) and yellow high engine temp warning comes on the iDrive. I immediately pull over and restart the car, the temp has dropped back down to normal in a matter of seconds and the warning light is gone. Will drive the car for another 20 minutes without any issues. This has happened twice to me now in 3 days. The auxiliary fan works fine and comes on at different times, sometimes at startup. Pulled codes 2E81 & 2E82. Also pulled code for battery drain 2DED. Could this be the electric water pump going bad or something else? Had a new water pump installed 2 years ago. Thanks in advance!
