Boost and Timing Corrections

Hey guys,

I ran (4) logs this morning. I'm running 93 pump gas. It was 72*F and my AIT's never crossed 100. That said, it seems that after peak boost roughly 5,000 or so RPMs, the car is pulling timing.

I'm going to add a gallon of E85 and log again in the morning, but I'd love comments if you all have them.

6-7K. I did a drop in filter and coils at the same time (late January). Walnut blast was done at a local shop then as well.

Definitely dump a gallon or 2 of E85 in and let's see how they look after.

E85 is the most cost effective octane booster, couldn't agree more@!!!!!!!!

I added just over a gallon of E85 and logged again. Temp was up to 82*F. AITs were sitting just around 100* through 6 pulls, with a mile or two cooling between.

The first log/picture is for a 3rd gear in 4th pull. http://www.datazap.me/u/jwebb335xi/5...2-13&mark=19-7

The second starts in 2nd gear, through 3rd and into 4th.

Timing appears to be solid with just a bit of e85 added.

I noticed my gauge showed some knock voltage, which I set during this run and never have used before.. The number was very small, but I don't really know what it means.

Here's another 6 second run. 1.3 gallons e85 added. Temp was 82. Again, timing looks better.

Timing looks good (I'm on mobile, but as far as I can tell anyway)!

My car has timing corrections on any brand 93, regardless of map, new plugs, blah blah blah, but with even 1-2 gallons of E, she holds all the timing that's requested.

That's exactly what i experience, i can run a fairly aggressive timing curve up to 10.5 or even 11 degrees up top with just a gallon or two or E and my timing is clean, really amazing stuff@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This amazes me. The good news is that I hit full boost and follow requested load less than 1 second after going WOT. And, now with a little e85 to bring up octane, I don't seem to have timing corrections. I didn't want to run an E85 tune because I'd have to balance fuel amounts. But adding a splash of e85 now and again seems like a good idea when running this "aggressive" tune.

Thanks for the comments; maybe I'm crazy but I'm not alone?

No, I have an aggressive custom tune, and, at least for my car, if I want the boost, I have some negative timing corrections -- which E85 completely smooths out. Somebody called it "band-aiding" your tune, as if it were a bad thing, but the other option to get rid of the timing corrections would be to lower the boost. Adding E85 is a no brainer.
