sidewall puncture. 200 miles into ownership

Just creating a thread because I'm feeling sorry for myself.
Woke up to TPMS warning on driver side rear over the weekend. Attempted to put air in, and was greeting by a very fast leak on the sidewall. Anyway, obviously don't remember curbing any wheels, let alone driver's side. Got the tire replaced, checked out the old tire, looks brand new except for the 1/2 little gash on the sidewall. oh well. I don't think this has anything to do with RFT. They are conticontactpro ssr in stock size. just some bad luck. nothing else to see here.

The RFTs are not forgiving - even for the smallest pothole.

As the OP surmised, this problem was NOT caused by the tire being a RFT. He concluded it would have been the same for a go-flat.

Yeah, I really don't know enough about it. Or know enough about the tires themselves. All I know is that I've been lucky enough to have gotten 2 flats over the last 7 years over the span of 3 cars (all with low profile tires) and I've had this car on the road for 5 days.

So... Hoping it's just bad luck. It doesn't look like a cut, it just looks like a little nick, maybe 1/4" but air came out of it FAST. Who know??

Just starting a conversation on this new to me forum. Haven't even had a chance to wash it and take some decent pics. But I'm back on the road and opted to go with tire r*ck because they include the damage protection in their price.
