How do you assemble this BOV?

I bought a VRSF charge pipe and Tial BOV. It didn't come with any instructions. WTF??? Do they they assume all their customers are mechanically inclined? I mean, I got all the OEM parts out so I know that much but I've never owned a turbo car before let alone seen a BOV. Where does the brown Oring go?

Before you say put it on the VRSF CP flange, it keeps popping off.




Is this correct?

One more thing make sure you lube the sensor and twist it left and right while putting enough pressure to push the sensor in. Its not ricket science. And make sure to push it in the center of the sensor and not the tabs.

Thanks. I followed your instructions and that worked. Why is this vacuum line too short?

It should came with a barbed vacuume connector that connects the tial vacuume hose to the oem hose from the intake maniforl. Be careful not to break the nipple from the intake manifold.

This thing? Nothing else except a sticker in the box. Let me guess, I got one with a missing part? Who the hell packages these things, monkeys? I'm not the only one based on what I've read. Tiago, where are you?

That's it.

You don't need Tiago, you need to do some reading. There's a few DIY's around (which Tiago would direct you to anyways). Google N54 charge pipe install and you're good to go.

You'll have to tap a hole in the intake manifold or use an adapted to connect it to the stock line (not recommended). Also you'll realize the line included is to big for the barb (adapter) included. Also on mine the water/meth bung was crostreaded. I had to use a tap to clean it up or my nozzle wouldn't go in more than 2 turns. I think there's more QC needed.

No! Thats not it! Contact tiago they sent me the wrong one too! But he managed to expedite the right part. It should be both male end. Not female male end.

Did you remember to take the large O-ring out of the stock Charge pipe and transfer over to the onside of the new charge pipe? It goes inside a little groove near the Throttle Body connection. Just buy a longer Vacuum hose and run from BOV to the stock vacuum connector. Advance Auto sells the vacuum hose/windshield washer hose.

The CP comes with a new o-ring from VRSF, just make sure to install it. The stock vacuum/boost fitting is to small in diameter and will slow down BOV response.

Apparently I'm missing a part. I would read up up on instructions if they came with the product. I've googled it and guess what, the best thread that explains this installation makes no mention of tapping or drilling.

If you tap into another spot on the intake manifold, how do you plug the existing plastic nipple? Do you suggest cutting off the nipple and drilling there?

Thanks! So you didn't drill into your intake manifold? I want to avoid it if possible.

The package came with a thicker/larger O-ring which I put in the CP.

Yes, I put the thicker/larger O-ring on the CP. I got some flutter in 2nd gear this morning. Not sure how that impacts the performance though. Any information would be appreciated.

EDIT: Apparently drilling a larger hole into the intake manifold will resolve this.

I would highly recommend you upgrade the fitting in the intake manifold to a true 1/4" fitting. The stock fitting is too restrictive to operate the Tial BOV efficiently, leading to flutter and slow actuation. This may be beyond your mechanical expertise as you have to remove the manifold and drill it for the new fitting.

You might also want to put a lighter spring into the BOV. It probably has an 11psi spring now. I went down to a 10psi spring and it made it more responsive and less flutter.

was it flutter from the bov or surging from the turbo? This valve is a great product but the hks install was way easier, less than 3min lol.

OP if your not comftble drilling and tapping new fitting in your car have a pro do it. Next thing you know you mess things up.

Here's the ghetto rig from last night. Yes, the y-connector you see is from the stock diverter valves. I forgot to take pictures then, mostly because I was upset regarding the missing barb(s):



And then tonight, after getting the proper barb and new vacuum line after work:



It's still a temporary fix. I'm planning to drill/tap the intake manifold and place the barb that came with the kit on eventually.

You can use either the adapter we include to tap your manifold or you can purchase an adapter to go from the small line to the large line from autozone/advanced auto. Tial recommends the use of a full 1/4" line in order to make sure the BOV works correctly which is why we include that adapter.

I personally have run the adapter that mates from the smaller line to the larger line without issue but we have recently started offering Tial's recommended option.

I never ran any barbed thing on my tial bov or drilled into anything with the stett CP. Had no flutter whatsoever and held 15-16 psi for over two years.
