Who else is looking at both of these? Focus RS will be here in the spring also. Should be about 13k cheaper than the M2. I'm looking very forward to driving them, despite how much different they are. I have a Fiesta ST and it's very good. So I think the RS will be no joke.
M2 has it on looks and sound though for sure over the RS. A poll that I found. Cast your votes http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...focus-rs-.html |

I was seriously considering the RS but I will be able to lease the M2 and not have to deal with the markups and availability issues the RS are sure to have. Awesome car though.

I'm really excited to see the focus rs. It'll be an absolutely fantastic car and fits the bill perfectly for me up here in new england. When I decide to trade in the fiesta it'll hopefully still be between the rs and m2.

some members lightly tuned them, downpipe + jb4 and get 0-60 time that will challenge the M2, hence the RS. factor in price since light use can be had low 40k now. pls don't go the slushbox way here, this zf ia the best in the business :- ) |

agreed, metrics is only half of the story. pants feel :- ) priceless !!!
i have a rwd m235i, but i'm ought to test drive those as well... the soso part, pricing in canada is ridiculous... a base m3 74k$ an m235i 45k$ (good) so the m2 should fit in at around 60k$ base, which isn't great at all.. time will tell |

RS is AWD, has more torque, 4 doors, a 20k bonus check when compared to the overpriced, underpowered, impractical, 60k pseudo M"2". RS > M235I >>>> M2 |

Besides drift mode that the RS will have, how else does Ford's awd system trump xdrive?

I've been thinking about this. I can order a Ford Focus RS for MSRP. Whether they would deliver in a reasonable time or not is another question. Still, at $40K, a solid $12K - $17K less than an M2. Probably as fast in a straight line. Probably faster on the track.
What's holding me back is that I've been down the hot hatch path before with Subaru. I admit I got tired of the econobox format and over time, performance didn't make up for it. |

I'm looking forward to a little more sophistication without losing the thrill and excitement and that's the M2 for me. I just can't put the RS, golf R, sti, evo type cars in the same classification. Or maybe I'm getting old. |

I get to see the RS in person at the OC auto show tomorrow. The car seems like a great deal imo. I think, if you're trying to decide between M2 or RS, you won't be unhappy either way. I haven't driven a focus or fiesta, but I've been passenger in my buddies fiesta ST and if the RS is half as manic as the ST it'll be great.
It feels like either way you'll get a raw drivers car with one being a bit more 'sophisticated' than the other. And Hopefully the RS doesn't get 10k markups because ford. |
