Engine Management Light Issues
As per another thread I've been having issues with a random Engine Management Light (half yellow engine icon).
A couple of times this week it has come on after driving about 1/2 mile, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I bought a code reader and have just plugged it in, no codes recorded. I'm wondering if this is because there are no codes to read or the reader isn't picking them up (it seems to work in all other aspects). I'm noticing no loss in power, the car runs smooth, the car runs fine. Do I need to take this in to a BMW dealer/independent and get them to plug it in for diagnostics? TIA. |

It's a 2008 325i.
Just been out an about in the car, stop, start...no light at all. It seems to be when the car has been sitting overnight or at work for the day...and the light always comes on within a mile of driving. |

I have a 318 diesel, had a similar problem, but mine was totally random, kept coming on at odd time, from start, on the motorway on cruise control , really couldn't figure it out, after a new turbo, wiring etc, I had a different garage clean the egr , after that,it's been just over a year and no light,so all happy touch wood, just a thought, as an egr clean is pretty cheap to get done if you can't do it yourself ,good luck,Den .
P.s obviously if you can get codes read etc,it may be something totally different lol , but if no joy this is a cheap starting point . |
