Coolant and radiator hoses
Car has 100K miles now, and thinking of replacing these.
Anyone have experience or suggestion where to order them? And if they are both necessary? |

You should do the coolant at 100,000. I can't speak to the 335i, but I did the hoses (all 9 of them) on my N52 at 230,000 and they didn't need it. I think there are some hoses near the turbos on the N54/55 that probably have a shorter life span however.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

BMW claims 'lifetime coolant' but wise folks change at about 100K anyway...while the system is drained you might as well refresh hoses as part of preventive maintenance. Belts and pulleys/tensionsers should be inspected for need to renew as well.
Don't forget to inspect for need the power steering and the A/C systems, too. How about your A/T fluid? You don't mention which engine, but either 60K (335i ZF tranny) of 100K (328i GM tranny) were the intervals used by BMW. All part of wise preventive maintenance. |

I have the 335i with the ZF tranny. It actually has a slight leak on the oil pan gasket. So I'm gonna do the drain and fill with a new oil pan and filter along with the mechronic sleeve.
The Ecs level 2 refresh kit includes the water pump and thermostat, it's like 1100 dollars. Anyone got a link where you purchased the coolant radiator hoses for decent prices? And which one you replaced? |

At 100,000 miles, I would do the following:
1) new coolant 2) new transmission fluid & pan filter; plus the megatronic sleeve 3) new brake fluid 4) new rear differential fluid 5) new power steering fluid 6) new oil & filter plus engine flush 7) old school scrubbing of the intake valves or walnut blast 8) new intake valve seals 9) new throttle body seal 10) new belt and pulleys 11) throughly inspect the entire engine while your in there for oil leaks. 12) techtron 20 gal formula for cleaning the fuel injectors. I agree with the poster above in that you probably don't need to change any hoses. I have 120k on my 07. Hoses look just fine. If you have not changed your electric water pump & thermostat, better start saving $$$. You are on borrowed time in a big way. 95% of them won't make it past 110,000 miles. If you become an Amsoil member, you can save 25% on all of their products. They sell every fluid I mentioned above. I bought a 5 year membership for $80.00. |
