I'm a huge fan of the website 'How Stuff Works' and especially their channels 'Car Stuff' and 'Stuff You Should Know'.

interesting perspective. So what does M235i miss to become a true M car? Most of the things standard on M cars come standard on M235i, and it is definitely more towards performance than comfort.

Beats me I'm not an expert on the M2/235i just like the guys on the podcast aren't either.

I can say, for me on the 435i vs. M3, the performance of the engine was a major consideration when I test drove. It and the body rigidity and roll was night and day.

For starters it doesn't have a uniquely designed or heavily reworked engine developed by the ///M group. It's the same N55 they put in pretty much everything else.

And what they are putting into the M2 -- which is considered a full on M car...? or not because it will have an N55?

That's certainly a topic for debate. Some purists initially said the M2 isn't a full M car because of that. The engine they're putting in the M2 still carries the N55 code, but is still different from the standard N55 as it will utilize some components from the S55.
