Battery covered in extended warranty?

Hi guys,

I think my battery turns bad few days ago. The comfort access starts not working and it has low battery warning after turn off the engine.

So I am just wondering if the battery replacement is covered in the extended warranty? it is a 2011 e90, but it has only 44k km only.

Thanks.

All they do is charge your battery.

Don't think it is and why should it? Batteries are wear/tear/use items that need to eventually be replaced. If it is, great but something like a battery, it's not expensive considering that you'll only replace it once.

Is it BMW Extended Warranty or CPO? I can only speak to BMW Extended Warranty but it seems battery should be covered. Take a look at p. 1 of your Extended Warranty agreement. The only exclusions are as follows:

EXCLUDED WARRANTY WORK:
Notwithstanding anything contained herein, this Agreement does not cover the following work or expense, or any work or expense caused by or due to:
A. Fuel or contamination in the fuel system
B. Damage to paint finish, body, covers, or panels
C. Glass damage (e.g., windows, headlights)
D. Wind, squeaking and rattling noises, as well as any smell
E. Tires, wheel imbalances and wheel damage
F. Repairs of accessories, which have not been part of the new vehicle’s ordering
G. Repairs for which the vehicle user is responsible (e.g., engine damage due to deficiency of oil, participation in race events).
The limitations of the New Car Limited Warranty apply in full to the Program Upgrade.

But I would give BMW Canada or your SA a quick call to verify, I have not had to make a battery claim against it myself so I don't know 100% but seems it should be covered.

Also 2011 E90 had a recall related to battery (OE battery had insufficient capacity IIRC) and resolution is to replace the whole battery. I don't have the campaign number in my service notes but it was completed for me in Nov 2011. Was this done on yours? You may be entitled to a new battery anyway.

Good luck!
