Cool New member, waiting for delivery of 420D GC Frozen Grey M Performance

Hi everyone

I've been mostly reading / watching on the forums up till this point. I ordered a new BMW (previously driving F30 M Sport EB II - see attachment)

New order:

BMW 420D Gran Coupé "Frozen Grey" Individual - M sport (190HP 400NM) - 8 speed sport automatic

442M wheels 19" (BI color)
Adaptive M Sport Suspension
Comfort Pack (PDC, Navigation Professional, Airco 2 zones)
Entertainment Pack (Hifi, ...)
Tinted windows
Mirror "pack" (inside & outside dimming + folding)
Connected Services + RTTI
Instruments combi high
"Towing hook" - retractable

No indication on trunk, no M logo on side (prefer clean look)

M performance activesound
M sport brakes
M performance Carbon front splitter
M performance Carbon mirrors

M performance Matt Black diffusor -> looks like this is not allowed in Belgium in combination with towing hook so for time being no M Performance Diffusor

M performance steering wheel II (shift led indicator / led screen) - alcantara - carbon
M performance interior carbon (everything) - inlay, shifter, ...
M performance door sills (illuminated)
M performance pedals
M performance black grill
M performance floor mats
M Performance side rocker panels (OEM)

Expected delivery end of April 2016

Sounds a fantastic choice of car and colour. Looking forward to pictures. You could look at oem side skirts and get them painted gloss black as an option if you did not want to go aftermarket. That's what I ended up doing on my F36 420d msport.

Beowulf65 Thanks, I'm very curious to see what it's like, I couldn't find this combination (M performance on top of Frozen Grey) online so I'm super excited about it. I will definitely post pictures (I'll create another thread in forum).

macfife Happy to see another 420D owner (looks like we're rare out here). RW Carbon sideskirt extensions look really nice, owner is very quick to reply, nice guy, so chances are really high I'll go for those since I've got so many other Carbon pieces on the car.

I'll go for same wheels for winter as you, love the look of those and the black will go nicely with the car as well.

Nice, it looks great

I just mailed the garage since BMW M Performance webshop stated that the diffusor cannot be placed when you've got a "tow hook" so curious to see what feedback I receive back because both the diffusor & electric retractable tow hook or on my order ... hope it won't be a problem

I use the tow hook for a bike rack since I like to mountainbike

In case it's a problem, I'll be looking for alternative

I have the tow hook and it fits. Mind you it clears it by 2mm when out lol. Underneath might be just a wee bit of cutting. BMW dealership fitted my mperformance diffuser

Great, thanks for info, so glad I can ask these kind of things here and get an answer on it

Does it rub when you hook something onto it or is it no problem when it's out, it's far enough? It's just close call in movement?

Should be ok, I actually put a bit of tape in between or a cloth when hooking up my bike rack and then once hooked on it did not rub but I tell you what it is close!. Put this way when I asked the salesman to show me the towbar working when I picked up the car, we both went quiet when it came out, was quite funny on reflection.

Since I'm impatiently awaiting (I try my best but it's not easy hehe) my car, I've inquired about ActiveSound for F30 Diesels, awaiting reply from BMW Press, curious to see if I can get some answer to when it would be available since press release said between Sep 2015 - March 2016 is should be available for the different models. I'll update post once I get some feedback

Got feedback from BMW Benelux through dealer:

BMW M performance power kit isn't legal in Belgium - it would give problems if I have to take car to technical check so I'm not going to do that

BMW M Performance active sound exhaust (see blog post reference on BMW press) is available for 420D although it's not yet listed in the catalog so I'm looking into this now, requested more information (specifically, what does it sound like?) and high chance I'll get this on my car upon delivery

Hmm strange did they mention why or are they just covering their asses legal/insurance wise? Would seem like technical checks don't even notice the power kit?

Interested in hearing the active sound as well!

The active sound I'm very much interested in. I've asked for audio or video files now (I don't know if they have those) so I can hear or get a sense of what it would be like. Again, chances are high I'll get it on my car so if they don't have anything available, I might play the guinea pig here and post it online afterwards myself.

The M performance power kit has not been homologated in Belgium ( not sure if this is correct english - gehomologeerd ) so the M Peformance power kit has not been officially tested (should be done in Bornem I suppose) so it is not officially supported in Belgium. It would be a problem because everything has to reflect the fact that you've got additional power (papers, insurance, ...).

Could you take some detailed pictures of those for me please? I'll check your thread out. I still need to figure out if the RW Carbon sideskirt extension can get me into trouble - I really prefer to get only parts that will pass technical check as after some years (4 or 5 probably) I'll be selling the car and I don't want to do any kind of swaps. It needs to be either original or certified and no problem.

Hiya, not the best photos as took tonight however they are oem and had them sprayed gloss black. The bodyshop that fitted had to source slightly longer screws to attach as the oem ones were too short for some reason. Let me know if you need further details.
