Bluetooth Sound Quality
Excerpted from an overall positive Edmunds article article:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/d...rticleId=109077 "Among the items included in the Premium Package is a Bluetooth system that can "pair" with a Bluetooth-enabled phone. Karl tried out this technology for the first time in our long-term 3 Series and was immediately smitten. "OK, I officially love Bluetooth. It's easy to set up, and it makes using a phone while driving a seamless activity. Better still, it provides exceptional voice quality. I could hear the person on the other end of the line clearly through the 3 Series' audio system, and they consistently told me that I sounded great. No bulky, geeky headsets required." Hmmm . . . I actually think that the voice quality when talking to my wife when she is in the car is not so great. I sometimes struggle to understand what she has said unless there is little or no road noise (and yes, she has windows up, etc.). Anyone else feel this way? Any suggestions? Where's the hidden mike for the system?

i don't think it's great but i wouldn't say it's bad either. i can understand people no problem. but since i don't have my phone next to my ear, i tend to yell a lot to make sure they can hear me on the other side. so then i get the "why are you yelling at me" question asked a lot
yeah, but overall, i think the sound quality of phone calls is good.

I'm referring to people OUTSIDE the car understanding someone INSIDE the car. I agree that the sound quality of incoming calls is fine. I'm asking about people on the other end -- I think it's hard to understand my wife when she calls me from the car.

Everyone I have called have commented on how amazing the sound quality is when I call from the car... most can't even tell I am calling from a car and can't hear any background road noise unless I am on a very poor surface.
It could also be influenced slightly by the phone you are using as some are better than others wrt to Bluetooth voice quality. I find Sony Ericsson the best in general and use a K750i. |

Agree, when I first got my bluetooth phone and paired it the first thing I did was ask people I called how I sounded, they all said they didnt hear any car or road sounds. I cant believe how good the calls sound from inside the car, this is a must have option for people that talk in the car alot.

yeah, incoming as well as outgoing calls sound perfectly fine in my car. i was testing it at the beginning and people couldn't even tell i was talking to them through my car.
the microphone is on driver's side of the roof where the light switches are. it's in the area where your SOS and roof buttons are.

Interesting that there are two different mikes -- one for the phone (#1), and one for the "Voice Command" system (#7).
