Datenblatt - data sheets
Trying to register my US spec car on the German system. Doing all the necessary mods (amber turn signals in the rear, rear fog light), but the TUV wants to see the datenblatt. My local dealer said they'll get me one for 300 Euros, but wanted to see if there were other options. Thanks!

I registered my US spec 335i in Germany over a year ago, and as far as I know there is no way around getting the datenblatt. The TUV I went too said they absolutely needed it, so I went to a local dealership(in Bremen) to get it. I was only charged 140 euro though. I wonder why they're charging you so much. It is just a piece of paper.

My car came with those turn signals. I thought they were standard

I think the "Datenblatt" is the least of your woes. The tax on a 550i is gonna be killer in Germany. I guess you know this already.
Good Luck with your needed paperwork. Btw... are you driving the car in Germany on your stateside tags? Or it the car in some kind of storage area until you get the paperwork in order. Just curious. I've seen many people drive on US plates in Europe. I think you can only do that for 12 months, then you have to export the car in order to get your bond back.

Update: I bit the bullet and took a job with the US government. I am now back under the umbrella. I'll continue to educate myself a bit more, but I will most likely sell them and get Euro spec vehicles.
